I have just found out that I am going to be induced tomorrow. After a rough pregnancy this is the best decision for us I will be 39 weeks and 5 days. Anyone got any tips or advice to make the process smoother.

No advice for making it smoother but bear in mind induction can take days so set realistic expectations for yourself and your loved ones. The last thing you need is people blowing up your phone asking if baby is here yet 😅

Agree with the above! I prepared to be in for about 5 days and packed like I was. I also said to family and friends that we’ll contact baby when he’s hear. Unexpectedly I had the pessary at 1pm and he was born at 7.30pm the same day. He was born very fast though so maybe not your typical induction! Good luck and you’ll be fine xxx

I got induced on a Monday and didn’t have her until the Thursday so take lots of things with you to keep you both entertained whilst waiting and also take snacks as we spent a bomb in the hospital shop! Xx

Set realistic expectations for when your baby will arrive, research all the different induction methods so you can make informed choices, take things that will occupy and relax you and make you comfortable. Pack an eye mask, ear plugs and cosy things to sleep in. Make sure you have headphones and a tablet / laptop, and pack snacks and drinks because the options can be limited when you are in hospital for food and drink. Good luck! X

Request gas and air for the insertion/removal of the pessary if you're going to have one. The midwife didn't tell me that was an option.

My only advice would be to take pain relief as early as you can. I know what it’s like to give birth without any pain relief as I did so with my first, but the pain I experienced with my second through being induced was on a whole other level. Whatever you decide, you will get through it regardless, but that would be my only piece of advice to you. Good luck! X
