Can anyone recommend a good pram that lays flat (suitable for newborn) but also folds easily and can be taken to a gate before boarding a flight (most likely flying with BA)? I want to avoid it on baggage carousel (don’t want to check in any luggage), so maximum dimension size including wheels would have to be as follows (so it’s labelled as Return To Aircraft Door):
Height 38cm
Length 117cm
Depth 38cm
Also does anyone bring a car seat on their travels, for travelling from the airport by taxi at the other end? Or do you book pick up with a child seat included before you go?
Any good travel system pushchair/pram that is lightweight and can be folded up would be a dream, but there’s just so many makes/models out there…
Look forward to any advice you can give! Thank you!

All prams can be taken to the gate… I’ve always taken my main pram with bassinet when travelling under 6 months… can also then use for sleeping and I know they are comfortable.
We have sat baby on our knee is taxis if not needing a car seat for car hire, which is allowed, but personal choice too.

ah sorry, should have made it clearer - a pushchair/pram that will be labelled as Return to Aircraft Door and won’t go on the carousel, is that a type of pram you’ve used? (maximum dimension size including wheels: Height 38cm Length 117cm Depth 38cm)
Basically I don’t want to check in any luggage, so need to find a pram that will be put in the hold and will be given back to us straight upon landing at the gate at our destination x

There aren’t many places you get it returned to the aircraft door, it’s usually on the luggage belt (unless your lucky). I’ve never had a pram weighed or measured so wouldn’t worry about dimensions… you could take a carrier to help get from plane to baggage when you arrive… but if you can get it returned it wouldn’t matter what the pram was

Even though British airways say pushchairs can be returned at the plane I think it’s very rare that actually happens. The baggage handlers will just take it with the rest of the luggage. Also I think the dimensions are for umbrella fold strollers which wouldn’t be suitable for a newborn.

I just took a second hand pushchair when mine was young so I didn’t worry about it getting knocked about

not worried about that at all, also have second hand. We just never ever check in any luggage and hoping to avoid waiting for any luggage at the other end.

oh that’s so annoying :( thank you for the info!

I’ve always found the pushchair comes off really quickly, always seems to be the first items on the carousel so I wouldn’t be too worried about waiting

good to know, thank you! :)

Hi
You can get cabin approved prams for newborns as we have researched this so much for our travels this year .
Check out YouTube for reviews and options .
Some airlines still don’t let you out in overhead cabinet but some will
We purchased the Didofy but you can get silver cross Clic or Jet 3
Baby zen yo-yo
Haunk
The jet3 comes with a carry on bag

ah amazing, I thought I was right in thinking you can get cabin approved ones!! I’ll check these models out online, super helpful, thank you ❤️

do any of these recline fully so they are completely flat (suitable for newborn)? I had a look a online, but they all looked like they are all at an angle :(

Yes there do as we have spent several weeks in pram shops lol
Maybe worth getting in some to check out yourself as I found it useful

we have the yo-yo with the newborn bassinet and it’s fully flat

thanks Maria! I’ll have a look at it online again x

There are also companies you can rent them through https://tinyexplorers.co.uk/

We got the Joolz Aer+, it lies flat but does feel a bit big for a newborn but my thought was it would last longer than the yo-yo. The Aer+ is cabin approved so can go in the overhead lockers on the plane and you can get a car seat adapters fir it that fit a range of car seats… the sunshade is really big too when unzipped

We took the sliver cross clic on holiday. But be warned the airlines/airports can be funny. We went from Manchester to Copenhagen. At Manchester we were able to take the pram all the way to the plan and store it in the cabins above our head. On the way back from Copenhagen they stopped us at the gate and said we had to put it into cargo (at no extra cost). Even tho it was the same airline?
Anyway they said there that they will ONLY let the babyzen yo-yo on the plane.
Just food for thought that even one that’s allowed on the cabin might be refused 🤷🏻♀️
