I’m thinking of opting for an elective section, this is my 2nd baby. With my first her labour was extremely quick and I didn’t know I was in labour until I got to the hospital at 8cm dilated and suddenly all the pain hit at once, any quicker and it would’ve been traumatic. It’s generally known that your 2nd comes quicker and a bit “easier” and I fear that I go into labour whilst I’ve got my little girl with me and before I know it I’m too late for anything.
Has anyone had an elective section before? How did it go? Would you do it again or stick to natural? I know recovery is going to be a lot harder for a section which puts me off with having a 2 year old aswell!

With your previous birth I would tell you to avoid a c-section if you haven’t had one before.
You can’t drive or lift your 2 year old for 6 weeks. I would read up more about the recovery and what you can and can’t do after one.
I know elective c-sections have a shorter recovery but my emergency one took 8 weeks.
I’m thinking of having an elective c-section as my last attempt would have been considered a “bad” experience.

it’s something you never really have to think about until it comes, hard decision to make also!

If you didn’t have any complications apart from the speed of the labour, how about a home birth? C-section recovery is hard 😢 I wouldn’t opt for it voluntarily if I’d had the choice.
