I have been reading lots of posts and noticed many of you are getting early scans. Can I ask if there is a reason why or do they just offer one? I am around 8-10 weeks, I'm really not sure as this wasn't planned. I have 2 children but have a history of miscarriages. Both of my previous children I had scans at 7 weeks then again at 12. I'm unsure why I haven't been offered an early scan this time. I have my first midwife appt on Tuesday. I would love an early scan as I'm so nervous, especially with my history.

Depending where your from in Scotland you only get 2 scans 12 weeks and 20 weeks any other ones you need to pay for x

My OB didn't offer me one, but I went to the e.r. for bleeding and got one done that way. Though with history of losses and previous high risk I know they'll offer an early scan if I were to get pregnant again.

I had a private scan as I was a bit worried but I also wanted to tell people so it was for peace of mind xx

I live in Wiltshire, England and my last baby was born here too. I had a scan at 6 weeks with him as I had a small bleed, then I went back at 8 weeks to check viability. Prior to him, I had 2 miscarriages. Both my previous children were conceived on Clomid as I never usually ovulate on my own. However clearly I have this time lol

My first nhs scan is for when I’d be 13 weeks so I just wanted some reassurance before that, had my early scan at 7 weeks, it was private and cost about £80. X

You don't routinely get any early scan, people are getting early scans from early pregnancy assessment units do to pain and bleeding, or paying privately for one.
The normal NHS scans are done at 12 and 20 weeks only, and then growth scans later on if required x

I had an early scan at 7 weeks but that was hecause i fell and broke 4 bones so wanted to make sure baby was ok after having x rays

I’m getting an early as I have pcos and also was getting treatment through fertility clinicx x

Hey! I had a scan when I was 6 weeks because I was experiencing spotting and contacted my doctor and he referred me to the hospital for one. It was just to reassure everything was ok (which is was)

I had an early scan with the NHS due to recurrent miscarriage ( 3 or more ) so they offered it for reassurance. They’ll usually offer them if there’s a potential issue or something isn’t feeling quite right, or you can go to a private ultrasound clinic and book yourself in xo

You usually only get a dating scan at 12 & a gender (if you want to know) scan at 20 week unless there's an issue or you book private scans.
