REFLUX

Hey moms! Curious to know how do you deal with reflux around the globe. My son is 6 weeks old and has been having lots of refluxo, specially at nighttime. He only drinks breast milk and we have no trouble with the breastfeeding. Midwife said it's normal and part of the maturing of his system BUT I wanna know if there are any tips other than holding him up for 20min after feeding

My LO had reflux until 6 months old. She was on formula and prescribed gaviscon. I was advised by our paediatrician to start weaning at 4 months and by 6 months old the reflux went! During the 6 months I did everything else advised, fed her at an angle, left her up right for 20 mins after a feed. None of those things helped! X

Is he in pain? My little boy is on omeprazole and has had some investigations done but his reflux is very severe (he didn’t gain weight for months, would scream in pain all night and would vomit blood). If it is just reflux without pain I would have just waited for him to outgrow it without medication, as annoying as all the clothes changes were! Once they wean and start moving around that usually helps

exactly. I do all that too. But he drinks too much maybe. Dont know how to stop him tho if he's hungry

he has discomfort. He never vomited tho, just few milk coming out every now then but the reflux is there all the time. We know the sound of it.
He gain 2kg in 5 weeks só maybe he does drink a bit much

I hold baby for 30 minutes after feeding and throughout feeding I try to slow him down by making him take breaks every few minutes if jt seems like he’s eating too fast or if I notice my letdown is a lot.

My little buy was terrible with it, on omeprazole and gaviscon, we tried all positions and tips and tricks the only thing that helped was weaning at 4 months old under the Dr, HV and dieticians advice

Reflux whilst common, isn’t normal. The cause isn’t an always underdeveloped sphincter, or all babies would suffer with reflux. However, there will be a cause and medications just mask the underlying issue. It can be allergies, tension, position during feeding, baby taking too much food, air intake, tension and/or an oral restriction such as tongue tie.

My baby had bad colic and reflux until her tongue tie was cut, I’m pretty sure that was the cause. Her feeding had seemed fine, but looking back it’s clear she had been struggling! All got better within days of it being cut.

his tongue is fine tho😔

Try Express pumping, put breast milk in a bottle with a ss size teet bottle top (small bottle teet)

Then take breaks with the feed , every 30 mls lean baby forward for a burb

Then after feed I sit baby up for 30 minutes, then I put baby in feed pillow , feed pillow has been a life saver as head still slightly elevated, then when baby falls asleep 😴 then I put her in her bed.

I know it's not the same but hear me out. Mine was breast fed but I couldn't keep up the milk supply so had to go to formula. Well she had bad reflux to it and was throwing up every bottle she drank and was always crying because she never could keep it down. Turned out she had a milk sensitivity. Switched and she's better. Not saying that's what your little one is having happen to him but maybe that could be the issue.

My girl has it bad they tried gaviscon, didn’t work so they tried both gaviscon and omeprazole together, didn’t work. We put her on sma anti reflux milk and omeprazole and she seems to be getting better

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.
