Sterilising bottles

What’s best to do is follow NHS guidance and continue sterilising till at least 12 months (longer if you continue to use formula).

If you don’t want to stop, then don’t!

I believe, because of the bacteria that could be harmful in the formula powder, you should sterilise the bottles as long as you are feeding formula- once you start cow’s milk then you no longer need to sterilise.

If you want to keep going, keep going 💙

I still sterilise at 9 months but figured it’s probably pointless considering he regularly licks the dog 😂🤣

I stopped around the 9/10 month mark tbh and moved to soap and water. She was eating grass and picking stuff off the floor so it defeated the point 🤣

We never did, (did it once) we washed them with hot water and soap after every use.

Some mums carry on even after they are off formula but I suppose there’s no point. Mine is 3 months old and been told I can stop if I want to but 3 months seems to young to stop🥺

The whole time he’s on formula I’m going to carry on but as soon as he’s stopped formula just hot water and soap seems the best idea x

My mother in law is a midwife and maternal health nurse, and she said she never sterilised bottles. She washed in hot water (as hot as you can handle) and dish soap. And then left to dry on a clean towel.
I however have a microwave steriliser so I continue to use that, but if I’m in a hurry, I just wash with water and soap

I live in the US so idk if it's recommended that we do that here, but I have only ever sterilized bottles 1 time lol my son is 7m and just fine 😅
