Am I in the wrong

I’ve booked a holiday to Disney for me my partner our three children it’s there first time going I have also invited my mum . I asked my partner before booking if he’d be ok with my mum coming as she’s never been abroad and she’s always wanted to go to Disney I asked him three times and he did say yes that’s ok three times. So I booked her to come as well and now today my partner has said hes not keen on my mum coming but he didn’t want to hurt my feelings and say no as he wanted it to be just us two and our kids but the problem is shes never had a passport before and she can’t contribute towards the holiday. My partner has said he’s thought about pulling out of coming because he really only wanted a family holiday. Am I in the wrong for even planning this with my mum have I overstepped the mark by inviting her. I can still cancel this holiday as I only booked this four days ago we go at the start of April. I really don’t know what to do my head is all over the place any advice would be so helpful

You’re not in the wrong, you asked three times. How old are your kids? Surely he should be jumping for joy that there will be one more adult there to help with the children?
I understand that it would be nice to have a holiday just the 5 of you, but by the same token he had 3 opportunities to tell you that before you booked it. If he doesn’t want to go anymore I would just go with your mum

U asked him and he said he was OK with it. End of. If he felt that strongly he should've said something then. I'd go ahead with the holiday and take ur mum and if he doesn't want to go then he can miss out and sulk at home like a baby

He said he wasn’t thinking he was just agreeing with what I was saying he didn’t think it through he said I should have known what the answer was as we’ve been together for 10 years I should have known his thoughts I did tell him I’m not a mind reader I’m organising this all myself my kids are 9, 6 and 4 when we are over there it’s my eldest birthday he’ll be 10

You did a nice thing for your mum. Don’t waste time regretting this. She will always think of this , what you did for her and your husband will get over it x

Once he’s there I don’t think he’d care anymore

Something similar happened to me with my 1 year old but it was great having an extra pair of hands to help out with my son and she had him for a few evenings so me and my husband could go for date nights and he realised how helpful it actually was having her so maybe that realisation after the holiday? Also could you arrange things so you aren't with your mum 24/7? That deffo made my husband a lot happier 😅also if it's booked now and it's mainly for the kids that's what should be considered tbh x

I’m hoping that once he’s there he’ll be ok I have booked the marvel hotel I have spent a packet on this holiday as it’s Christmas present for all my kids and birthday combined for my eldest son turning 10 I don’t plan on being with her 24/7 she’ll end up being with my daughter most of the time she’s 4 I did bring my mum for the extra help and she has already offered to watch the kids so me and my partner can go out one night ourselves. In 2021 we did go to a caravan holiday for a week with his family it wasn’t the best and he ended up sulking half of the time and being moody which is why I’m nervous this time in case he does that again

You have 3 kids of very different ages, they are not going to want to do the same things all of the time, so having and adult each will be a godsend. Having an extra person also means, if the 5 of you all want to go on a ride together then your mum can look after your stuff. She can have the kids in the evening so the 2 of you can go out. There's so many reasons why it's a good idea, just point some of them out to him and hopefully he'll come round. It's not fair to uninvite your mum now that she is excited for it. He needs to think about what he's saying before he says it

He’s being childish. He was asked and he said he was ok with it. To turn around and sulk now because you should have psychically known he didn’t mean what he said is ridiculous.

You’re not in the wrong, you gave him 3 opportunities to be honest with you and he wasn’t. Like you say you’re not a mind reader. If he does decide not to go then he’ll miss out on a lovely family holiday and some quality time with his children.

We love extended family holidays!!!! We've been abroad twice with our 2 year old and she's loved having her grandparents there and aunties!!! It's lush! He'll love it when you're all there!!! X

From experience you always have better holidays with your mum than hubby (if kids are going) 😂 I end up having to look after both the kids majority of the time if it’s just me and hubby.

Does anyone else hate their partner?

I’m now a little over 2 months postpartum and I’ve struggled with genuinely just not liking my partner anymore since we found out I was pregnant last year. I catch myself just staring at him with hatred because I’m so sick and tired of his bullshit. He is just now getting a job and has not had one since THANKSGIVING!!! Meanwhile I was working full time until I finally got too sick to be able to work. I genuinely want him out of my house but I depend on him as far as driving goes bc I don’t have a car. I also still love him deep down and don’t want to put him out on the street but he’s driving me genuinely insane. Any advice?

I do all the baths wake up in ams cooking etc. I dont want them to be dirty but it's like I need a break and Im tired of doing it all by myself. He will come up and help after they are out the tub every now and then and that pisses me off. Im taking care of 2 littles one by myself makes no sense. I asked him to give them baths tonight he said I worked all day what did you do...ive had the children all day. We went to church he didn't go. We all know how little ones are.. but what should I do bcus it feels like I'm going crazy

Heartbreak

After years of trying, months of back and fourth on the fate of our marriage, indecision, fights. The whole enchilada my husband and I are separating, divorcing. Whatever. I'm so goddamn heart broken. I feel like it's a death and I'm in mourning. We have a 3 year old son and currently and for the foreseeable we are going to coparent and live together. This makes things harder because neither one of us can really move on but it's how it is. He understands and he's trying to heal too. But I can't understand why now that things are over he can be kind. He's been more amazing in the last week since I ended things than ever. Why couldn't he do that when we were together for years I begged for change, we saw a counselor I tried everything and he just wouldn't. Now he seems to turn a switch and be able to just do it all. But it's too late. My heart aches. My body aches. Love sucks.

Partner works incredibly long hours, how much do they help out?

I'm struggling. Have been for a while. I've had one break from parenting my daughter, that was for 3 hours in December when I left her with her dad.

She's 14 months old and I'm just tired. I've done every night by myself. He's out of bed at 4am and doesn't get home until 7-9pm. He drives for work, very physically tiring.
On the weekends he was doing 6 days, one weekend day off, but now has both off.

He doesn't sit on the floor and play with her, he doesn't read to her because he says she doesn't have the patience.
He will pick her up and hold her whilst he's cooking.

Recently I've been "snappy" with him.
He got back from the mechanic last weekend, she was getting onto the sofa and he put his headphones on and started to watch Netflix on his phone.
The same day I told him I was going to run her bath and to watch her whilst she was still eating, he fell asleep on the sofa.

Today he went to football after going shopping, so was out 1-3 and then from 4-8.
He got back and I was snappy.

"I don't get why you're so snappy with me"

I said - Probably because I haven't had a break since December.

"Do you think I don't know you haven't had a break. I haven't had a break", "I just won't go to work, I'll sit at home all day".

Then "do you think I like not having a connection to my child"... But that's on him? He never sits to play with her. He "doesn't see the point". He's stated that this age is boring to him.

Since she's been born, he has been to a friend's once a month. Football - He stopped going for 7months, but has been the last two weekends.

Are these not breaks?

He does do the washing/washing up/cooking/vacuuming when I haven't had a chance to; but I'm the one in charge of feeding her, naps/bedtime, teeth brushing, hair brushing, baths, dressing her, making sure she has the right shoes, appointments etc. Everything falls on me.

If your partner works ridiculously long hours, how much do they look after your child? Do you ever get a break?

Am I wrong ?

My daughter’s 1st birthday was Thursday and nobody wished her a happy birthday from her dads family but his mom watched his story. Should I put my foot down and set boundaries for them to accept accountability or should I just let them stay on that side for as long as they want and not worry about it?
