My LO is 5 weeks and is currently breastfed but I think she has a cow milk allergy. I've been 24 hours with no dairy but how long does it take to see a change? If you've had any experience please let me know because I feel so guilty knowing what I've eaten is putting my baby in discomfort. I feel like I've failed as a mother making her feel uncomfortable

Hey, firstly, easier said than done, but please try not to feel so guilty.. how were you to know? The fact you’ve picked up on it is great. My LO has just been given SMA Althera to trial for the next two weeks as she’s formula fed. However my friend, who breastfeeds, noticed the same in her LO and had to cut diary out of her diet completely. When she spoke to the GP she was also referred to a dietician to help and support further. It may be worth contacting your GP to find out what support is available to you xx

My first born had CMPA and currently suspect my 4 week old has it too.
It can take up-to 6 weeks to clear out of your system.
We have been referred to the dietician and Paeds but in the meantime I’ve had to cut all dairy from my diet, its really hard going as there is milk in pretty much most foods. For some reason i found it easier to do first time round but this time im finding it really hard and frustrating
Don’t feel like you have failed. You couldn’t possibly have known!

I'm wondering whether my daughter my have CMPA and I was speaking with my friend about it as her son has it. She was advised that she had to completely cut dairy out of her diet for 2 weeks before seeing whether it had an impact. She did say it was really hard as there is dairy in so much stuff!
