I am 35 weeks and since yesterday I have an external hemorrhoid. I never had constipation and I never had this issue before. It is itchy and burning 24/7. I talked to my obgyn today and he basically told me this is pretty common during pregnancy and there is nothing to do to relieve my discomfort. Does anyone have a similar situation? I will appreciate if someone has a tip because I can’ t handle 23 days like this (my c section is already scheduled on September 28 th).

This is totally common! My ob recommended Preparation H, which is a cream to use to help relieve the symptoms and is over the counter. I use it daily, and it helps!

Witch hazel wipes & maybe try some ice pads!! I’ve always used witch hazel wipes for after birth hemorrhoids. I’ve never used the ice pads for hemorrhoids but they might help. You can get the frida mom ice pads at Walmart!

Epsom salt warm baths 3 times a day, Metamucil daily, stool softener daily, wipes instead of Toilet paper, drink water, prep h cream and hydrocortisone cream, being “anal” about your regimen lol don’t take a day off being consistent will help them go down and reduce pain witch hazel didn’t really work for me but others swear by it 😂 good luck to you I’m in the same boat my OB won’t refer me to get a surgery on them until after I give birth 😫

Even mild constipation gives hemorrhoids so it may help if you take medicine for that (e.g. Miralax) or stool softeners, do some light exercise such as walking, eat fiber rich foods, and drink lots of water. Takes a couple days for the hemorrhoids to calm down though.

Also helps if you wash the area with water after each time you poop and tap dry gently with a towel

Preparation H and prednisone.
And fire your ob for recommending nothing... wtf.
