Concerned

My 19 month old toddler has been having diarrhea for the last 4ish days every single diaper change, he has a rash that won’t go away no matter what I do, he screams everytime he sees a diaper and I feel helpless, he’s eating and drinking fine and he doesn’t have a fever, I did give him Tylenol tho just in case but when should I be absolutely concerned? Like would you let it ride out a little longer to see if it’ll run it’s coarse or take him in? I called his ped and they just told me to let it run it’s coarse unless it starts getting blistering, bleeding, ext. he’s been been so beyond cranky and just not my happy boy and I just feel so bad for him😞

Edit: I have used destiden and Vaseline. Also no I haven’t changed anything like soaps or laundry detergent. He went and spent a day with my MIL and she said she didn’t give him anything but this didn’t start till he came back so I dunno what could be causing it

Last time that happened to my little the rash was caused due to stomach acid. So washing her bottom versus just wiping is what helped her heal. It seemed like she got diarrhea out of nowhere but realized it was some sort of stomach big she had. I was recommended to give her some imodium. I gave her 1ml using her Tylenol syringe and after giving it to her twice in a day after her bowl movements she no longer had diarrhea. But her bottom took a bit to heal due to the acid. Desitin helped heal her bottom once she stopped having the diarrhea

where would I get Imodium? Is there a certain brand that helped? I really just wanna start getting him solid stool bc it’s making his poor butt so bad and we use water wipes to help cool his butt down when we are wiping it instead of any chemical wipes

Could he be teething? Sometimes just leaving the skin open to air for a while can help.

I thought that to and that’s why I gave him Tylenol but I don’t feel or see any new teeth. He hasn’t gotten any new teeth in a very long time tho so it could be a huge possibility. And I’ve been trying to give him air as much as possible but with him having diarriah and us having Carpet it’s a hard risk to take cause he already pees so much lol

Hey! Sorry he is experiencing this. I second that it is likely to be teething. The extra saliva that is produced and swallowed causes diarrhea and can be extra irritating on the skin. You don’t have to see teeth poking through the gums for teething to be happening. I’ve noticed the teeth higher up in my son’s mouth, bulging, as they are just starting their descent and he will have teething symptoms.

As for the rash - I highly recommend the rash cream by Weleda (yellow bottle). It has zinc it is and is very soothing for their skin. Can usually turn a horrible rash around in a few days.

I deff will keep that in mind Thankyou! And okay I’ll order some off Amazon rn

We recently had a bad rash that wouldn't go away. Our doc had us wash with warm water and a mild soap each diaper change. They told us the wipes can hold bacteria, so to stop using them for the time being. We also left her bottomless to dry out as much as possible. We're potty training so that wasn't too bad because ours mostly made it to the potty.

I didn't use wipes as @Trista mentioned they could hold bacteria and honestly just smear the acid and not really remove it. Warm soapy water worked best. I also let her air out a bit before putting on her diaper and some rash cream. The imodium was just the walgreens brand regular imodium. It say to consult.yoir doctor for young kids. But after several mama recommendations because pediatrician was saying to let it run its course I gave in and just did 1ml dosage like Tylenol after her loose stool never did more than 3ml in a day.

What type of desitin do you use ? Use the purple tub, since my daughter's was severe & other types of desitin didn't work as much as the purple (white and purple).

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m “losing my sh*t.” Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!
