Hi all
Has anyone started weaning at 20 weeks?
i've noticed my baby girl is becoming increasingly bored of drinking her milk she just moves her head around and it takes at least an hour for her to finish a bottle after stopping and starting. she can hold her head up fine. Do you think this is a sign that she needs to start on solids? just thinking it would make it more interesting for her?
thank you mamas 😊

The signs are sitting completely independently, able to reach and grab food and put it straight into their mouth and they need to be showing an interest in food. I personally don't think it's a sign as I don't believe they get bored of their milk but it's completely up to you. X

If she takes that long for a bottle is it time to move the teat size up? X

I’d say she needs to go up a teat flow size if she’s taking that long to drink milk. As far as I’m aware, babies don’t get ‘bored’ of their milk, they are just no longer satisfied with milk alone- therefor start to eat solids alongside their usual milk.
The guidance is 6 months when baby can sit independently x

I started to wean my little one because of all the same things and when I mention it to the midwife she nearly ripped my head off 😢 my lo is 5 months on Monday

Babies become easily distracted at this age, I wouldn’t be weaning until she is sitting up. They also have a reflex which pushes things out of their mouth and that doesn’t stop until around 6 months
