I’m 35w6d and today I have a appt. I’m doing the membrane sweep today 🥲

goodluck girl! I heard a lot of people have their babies soon after😊

Membrane sweeps are a type of induction, so it would depend on your doctor and situation. There's no standard time they'll do one

why are you getting one done so early?

I have my 36 week check up tomorrow I don't want a membrane sweep is that necessary?

they are letting you do a sweep that early??

not necessary you can decline anything you don’t want!

Im 36 weeks and Doc hasnt even brought up sweeps. Since it can induce labor, we dont want it to start anything too early for us. No medical reason to do it, at least for me. You can say no to it too

Membrane sweep is not something that's standard. I'm going to ask my OB to do it as I get further along, she said she's ok with it once I'm 37 weeks and full term. I've required pitocin with my previous 2 babies and she knows I'm trying to go into labor without that this time.

I’m refusing mine. I’ve done plenty of research and it’s not necessary and can even break your water if not done correctly and send you into labor early. My doctor hasn’t brought it up but when or if she does, I will not do it

I have my debates on it! I think I might get it done around 38 weeks just because I want to have a natural labor, I don’t want to be induced with pitocin or anything due to if your body rejects it your babies heart rate will drop causing a C-section 😫

Also just a reminder to those who might want a sweep (I am also trying to get one at 38 weeks)
You have to be a certain amount dilated already. (Not sure how much)

Question is the sweep like them checking your cervix?

@Jayla just wanted to say - I know there are risks with pitocin, but I did receive it two times (once for water breaking with no natural contractions and once voluntarily induced) and I still delivered vaginally both times without epidural. I know that's not the case for everyone, but I wanted to give you my experience!

They told me at 36 weeks
