Constipation

My baby poos every 2-3 days, our health visitor told us to give our baby cool boiled water. Xx

how much are you giving them and how often? Does it work? He screeches in pain like he wants to poop 😞 x

Is your baby bottle or breast fed? My little boy was like this on cow and gate, kept having to give him cooked boiled water to help him go and it was a struggle everyday but now we have switched to kendamil and he goes everyday with no help and is in general a lot more settled xxx

my little boy is on cow and gate too, my doctor said yesterday to not change it basically as he’s gaining weight but I’m kind of like .. surely I shouldn’t have to give him water all the time😂 x

I give him 2 ounces every couple days x

I felt like this too about having to give him water all the time cause I didn’t want him getting reliant on it! He was so uncomfortable everyday cause of it and I switched last Wednesday to try before I took him to the doctors and he is so much more content and also farts a-lot more!

yeah he’s bottle fed he’s on pepti 1 now as doctors gave it him to see if it would work! 🫠 x

My boy was exactly the same, I tried every trick in the book & nothing worked, again from doctors all I got was lactolose which worked while he was having it but as soon as I stopped he was constipated again. I was told not to change formula but I needed to do something as he was in pain trying to go. I switched from sma to aptamil & it's done the trick, I have a happy baby who doesn't strain trying to go or cry with pain & he goes atleast once a day if not more. I'm glad I didn't listen to the doctor. My health visitor said that the reason they say not to change is because for a few days it can give them an upset stomach which could lead to weight loss, but if your baby has gained well then there's no harm in trying. We never got an upset stomach at all x

my lb is on aptimal pepti 1 so not sure what i can change it too 😢 doctors are useless! X

Oh does he have an allergy? Keep pushing the doctors as they can give milk on prescription my friends little girl was on it a year or so back. They are useless but just keep on at them & eventually hopefully they give in x

no idea.. they just gave it to rule it out as he’s had gavisgon lactolose and still got constipation! X

I am giving my baby just a sip at a time and keeping it up to 2oz for the whole day xx

gaviscon it’s causing constipation, be aware that’s why doctors are recommending a bit of water xx

This was exactly our baby! The Dr had also prescribed movicol which was disastrous! Our baby is now on the lactose free milk prescribed from another Dr as it's meant to be digested easier and after a week he is ten times better!! We stopped the lactolose as this was making his stools too runny. Only issue is it is a very thin formula so made him be sick quite a bit to start with but that's stopped now. It's called Nutramigen.
