I was getting pip as I have heart condition and it effects me daily . Recently I had an interview, and I was so shocked that they removed it, and nothing has been changed since I made a claim first time couple of years ago. Who was in the same situation? I need an advise please

Definitely ask for a mandatory reconsideration - this tool is really helpful. If you still get refused it’s definitely worth then going to appeal, over two thirds of decisions get overturned at tribunal, it can take a long time but money does then get backdated if you are successful

@Rebekah do you mean that majority cases win if they go to tribunal?

Did they just call you and decide to give you a interview out of nowhere?
That’s so bad. Did you reapply?
I read that nearly all cases get overturned at appeals so it’s worth fighting x

Me too I asked for a mandatory consideration and I'm going to the Cutizens Advice Beureau foe more help they have best expertise

this happened to my mother in law, she appealed it and won x
@Keri no, they send me a form to reaccess me , I knew I will have an interview and woman on the phone was nice but apparently very fake , she gave me 0 points for all questions , I was shocked 😲

they are so sly and tricky with the way they ask their questions! good luck with your appeal x
@Ellie Mae thank you so much , giving me a lot of stress already , my condition is invisible but if I over doing something it can be really dangerous for my heart
After I gave birth my symptoms worsen, but GP is so hard
They did not have my record from previous practice , I had to prove I have disease which is untreatable and effect my day to day life
I feel like this accessor though - oh , you made a baby , let you work hard to look after her
@Krystle did they give you 0 points or you disagree about pip rate ?
@Rebekah thank you , this is really usefull links will help me a lot

Yes the majority of cases win at tribunal/appeal (over two thirds) but not at mandatory reconsideration stage, so it’s worth pushing through to the appeal stage even if you still don’t get the decision changed at mandatory reconsideration. It can be long but worth it!
@Rebekah I just wonder how evil was that person who gave me 0 points for everything
@Rebekah do I have to be present in the court ?

i can only imagine how hard it must be and scary just doing general things! i hope whoever next assesses you can see that! x

Yeah it’s so horrible how they often award 0 points to people who clearly should be eligible, especially if you got it before. You don’t have to go in person but it generally helps people’s chances, it’s just a room with a big desk and normally 3-4 people and you, so not like a courtroom. I’d suggest seeing if there’s a benefits advice service like citizens advice near you who can support you with it
I am preparing myself mentally for this unpleasant process
@Rebekah do you know how long it takes for decision after MR ? And then if I will have to see tribunal, how long the waiting time before they invite you
I was planning to travel to see my parents, because they did not see baby and then we were going to see my partner's parents. This situation messed my plan

MR can very but they’re often 2-4 months ish, then the appeals can take anything from 3-12 months in my experience. While if you win eventually you’ll get back paid it’s not much help in the meantime!! Obviously it could be that it goes in your favour with the MR and then you don’t have to appeal 🤞🏼
@Rebekah thank you Rebekah
Have to be very patient and tight with a money.
Is so fake how they say Pip can get even those into work , but then they want you to be totally useless in everything to give an award. Does not make sense
@Rebekah hello Rebekah, is me again, hope you are well. Unfortunately my mandatory reconsideration did not work for me and I have to appeal to tribunal now.
I want to ask you , do I need to use lawyer or someone professional to appeal to tribunal? And can I send the same letter which I wrote for MR ? Looking forward for your reply xx

Sorry to hear that! You don’t need a lawyer and I wouldn’t pay for support with the appeal and can do it yourself, however if there is citizens advice or other free benefits advice service in your area it would be worth getting some support. If not, this guide is really good https://www.advicenow.org.uk/guides/how-win-pip-appeal

You can use your MR letter as the basis of your appeal and just explain you still don’t think they have taken things into consideration. I would also get as much medical evidence as possible and see if any of the medical professionals you have contact with will write a supporting letter

Hello Rebekah , thank you so much for your messages , it is very helpful for me. I was hoping for better result from MR but to be honest I was expecting this. I will do the letter this Saturday, Sunday...
By the way they said in pip letter that I can appeal to tribunal online or by letters, what do you think is better ? Thank you

I’d probably do it online if you can as then you can track your appeal progress and get confirmation they have received it
