Jabs!

My baby has her 8 week jabs tomorrow morning, I have been told to give her Calpol in prep to reduce her temp.
However I have been told by my health visitor to give 1 hour before the jabs ... my friend was advised by her health visitor to give straight after the jab ... what has other people done? Just want it to work best for my baby girl to limit the pain/ fever as much as possible.

They say after the jabs because otherwise it could mask a temperature before hand šŸ˜€. My health visitor said today that once the nurse has don’t the temp check, I can give the calpol before the jabs. So as long as they have checked their temp and it’s fine, you could just ask them if you could give her the calpol then.

My little girl had hers yesterday I gave her the first dose about 15mins before her jab and then 4 hourly until she’d had the 3 recommended doses

We have our little one calpol before we left the doctors - by the time the jabs kicked in the calpol had too, then we have the other doses about 4/5 hours after each other!

I gave my little boy Calpol an hour before his appointment - I personally wanted him to have a bit of pain relief from the actual needle. He's just had his second dose an hour ago and after 6 hours and his temperature is fine. I took his temperature before giving him the first dose as a baseline and to make sure he didn't have a fever before hand

my little boy had his yesterday and i gave him 3 doses of calpol, 1 30 mins after jab and then 1 4 hours after that and the last 5 hours later and he didnt get a high temp at all he just felt sorry for himself

Had my little girls 8 week jabs on Monday and gave her calpol 30 mins before her injections and then 4 hours later, 3x doses in 24 hours which they advice. Im glad I gave her it 30 mins before as they have to have 2x injections in both legs, it helped to minimise the pain

I also got told by a friend who was advised to give it after, as it could mask a reaction. Definitely don't give before in case baby gets poorly and needs attention and the calpol masks it all!!! Good luck, dreading ours!!! X

You're meant to give the calpol no more than once every 6 hours. Take her temp at home if you think she might have one and take the calpol with you. I gave my little girl hers 45 mins before and it kept on top of it. You need to take their temp every 4 hours after and calpol every 6 including through the night

My GP said it's 4-6 hours for Calpol which it also says on the leaflet of the Calpol itself. Also GP said there's no need to wake them during the night if they're content.
Everyone will do things slightly differently and advise differently, just got to go with what we as the parent feel is right ā¤ļø

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? šŸ˜…

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤔

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
