Too much sleep?

Mums who are struggling with sleep - maybe not the post for you and I am truly sorry if you are and hope it improves soon!

My situation is that my almost 6 month old, has always been a 'good' sleeper. From very young sleeping through the next and never experienced regressions. However, as he gets older this makes me worry.
His usual day

Wake at 7am
Nap at 8.30am (45 mins)
Nap at 10.30/11am (30'mins) not always has this one depends if we are out in the pram
Nap at 2pm (1.5/2 hours)
Bed time 7pm sleeps 12 hours

He can do 1.5hour awake in the morning and it progresses to 2/2.5/3 as the day goes on.

Is this okay? I feel like he's getting too much sleep and I don't know if that's possible. He's a great weight (9kg), sitting up, chatty, very strong and alert. Nothing concerning developmentally and as has been like this his whole life, not unwell!

Anyone else have a similar baby?

Hey! I’m Mel a holistic sleep coach. There are averages of sleep in 24 hours at certain ages but they are only averages. Some will sleep more and others less.

As long as your baby is happy all sounds good to me!

Same here! Mine wakes up at 6, 9am nap till 11, then 1 hour at 2:30 then bed at 6/7pm. I’m just following my baby’s flow, he does have some days when he sleeps more and others where he sleeps almost nothing. Sometimes it depends by what we do in awake windows, how much we play if we go out etc.. I believe as long as lo is happy and eats regularly just go with the flow, he knows how much sleep he requires x

Thanks both! He is the happiest little soul, and like you his day sleep does depend on what we've done (swim, plays etc). But as a rule of thumb he sleeps 14-15 hours in a 24 hour period, I was wondering if this was a sign he wasn't right but honestly this baby couldn't be happier or more content. Guess I'll enjoy and pray for the toddler years 😂

My baby is exactly the same, same age, think we’re just lucky!!

Often she’ll wake at 7, feed and then we’ll lie in til 8.30/9 - she wakes, does some tummy time and a little poo and back to sleep for a few hours. Wakes, plays, back off at 11ish, awake by two… back to sleep by 7pm and sleeps all night xxx

Im glad to know I’m not the only one whose baby sleeps almost all morning.. off course that’s when hubby is in charge of the baby 😐

My LG is the exact same, 12 hours straight at night and never had a regression, 30mins in the morning, 2 hours at lunch and 30mins in the evening 🙂

From a mum that has a baby that will not nap, want to swap? 😂😂 she’s good at night, sleeps 12h, so I guess I’m still very very lucky

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.

When did you circumcise your baby?
If you DID NOT or DO NOT have a circumcised son DO NOT comment this post is not for you!

Did you wait a certain amount of time or have it done immediately?
Again respectfully, this is only for the parents who choose to do so.
opinions about how not necessary it is will not be appropriate for this post. Thank you in advance. 🩵
