CONSTANT breastfeeding?

Is anyone else's baby literally not off the boob today? My 2 week old falls asleep after like a half hour feed and then when I take him off, even just to hold him for a normal cuddle, he immediately wakes up and starts routing and fussing again. Is it the heat? A growth spurt? We're not getting much else done but feeding today anyway that's for sure 😅

My 4 week old has wanted nothing but boob all day today.

good to know it's not just me!!

I’ve been going through this in the heat wave. Today not too bad but a couple of days ago my baby fed pretty continuously for about 4 hours

Yes 😂 mines five weeks
So I do a bit of both because otherwise I’m just sitting and feeding all day long

I had this for about 4 days and it stressed me out so much 😫 I ended up making the decision to just formula feed instead of combi. I just couldn't do it. I have a great respect for mums out there that push through and continue. It just wasn't for me and I didn't want it to affect my baby as well

Sounds like cluster feeding! My baby did this on a few occasions between 2-3 weeks, each time lasted about 5-6 hours. It's horrendous but they will settle down, the heat definitely doesn't help! X

My baby did this at 1 week old and then again at 2.5 weeks old. From everything I researched it appeared to be cluster feeding and totally normal! To get through it, I watched YouTube videos about cluster feeding. It was comforting for me to know I wasn’t alone and it was just my baby going through a growth spurt 🥰.

Thanks so much everyone, feeling very reassured!! 💞

I was doing this I have a 3 week old I was feeding then thinking he’d finished and would put him down but in fact he was just having a breather!! The midwife told me they basically have starter mains dessert snack seconds and drinks!!! Best thing she told me I offer one boob when he finishes I offer the other and do this until he refuses and then wind him between each boob and at the end then he goes in the cot fine last few nights slept 9hrs over three stints the days are still a bit of continuous feeding though unless he’s out or distracted

Been going through the same this evening .. falls asleep and then when I try to move him he won’t stop crying until I put him back on again .. is it the weather ? Is he still hungry or just wants comfort 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Avatar

Yep constantly! Falls asleep then wakes up and wants more.
My baby is 16 days today.
I was advised that 72 hours before day 7, 14, 21, and 28 baby has a growth spurt in which they tell your boobs to make more milk. My baby was born on a Wednesday so Monday to Wednesday this week have been so tough. My midwife said it’s also the heat - needing lots of extra water!

Avatar

Probably the heat and also trying to increase your milk. If you’re serious about breastfeeding, go with it. I know it’s hard but it’ll get better

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
