Hey everyone, we are currently in Menorca due to fly back home tomorrow. My daughter has come down with HFM really badly! She’s covered in spots, will we be allowed to fly back home??

Unfortunately not. My little girl got it just before we flew out and we were told all blisters had to be scabbed (same as chicken pox) to be allowed on the plane as it’s so contagious. I hope she’s better soon x

Babies can go to nursery still if they have hand foot and mouth as long as they have no temp and seem well in themselves. So can’t see why she couldn’t go on a plane. It’s contagious for months even after cleared, that’s why kids can still go nursery. Is she bad with it?

Poor girl :( That looks so sore. I wouldn’t have thought so as it’s so contagious and can be really nasty in adulthood so I imagine the risk of spreading it on a plane would be high. I would call the airline tonight to check and also call your insurer if you have one. Sorry you’re going through this on your holiday ❤️

I mean how would they know?! Like Louise said babies can still go to nursery with it & im sure there is a bigger risk of covid / flu on a plane than HFM 🤷🏻♀️

We’ve just got home 🤞🏼 I kept her body completely covered, you could still see spots on her face but no one said anything xx

How could you tell it was hfm and not chicken pox? My sons nursery room currently have cases of both HFM and the pocks and I’ve noticed about 5 little dots on his skin but in different places
