Just looking for other people's experiences as I'm feeling kind of anxious about my upcoming appointment. After having HG for most of the pregnancy and managing not to be sick by eating every few hours (night time included) the last few weeks, fasting sounds awful to me and the thought of having the drink on an empty stomach is making me uneasy.

I had mine this week and I had the same worries as you :) it was fine and if I had any tips about the drink just take it slowly and don’t ‘down it’. Also take water for the wait afterwards x

I had mine on Friday and was alright. Just take little sips of water. Take a fan for sure. Download something on phone and you’ll be fine

I’ve got mine on Thursday and dreading it too because of having HG 😩 gonna have extra meds on standby as I’ve been able to reduce my doses. If it tastes awful I’m gonna gag too and as soon as I gag it’s end game and I’m constantly sick 🥲

I have mine first thing tomorrow and am still on daily anti-sickness tablets for horrendous sickness that started at 6 weeks.
My letter says to continue taking prescription medication as normal so I will 100% be taking my tablet tomorrow because I can’t risk throwing up the glucose drink 🙈. I’ll have breakfast in my bag for as soon as the test is finished too! Not looking forward to it I must admit! xx

I’m on ondanestron for my HG and I was allowed to take that as normal!! The test didn’t make me feel sick at all, just quite hungry. Just keep yourself distracted in the two hours! Take a book or some headphones and watch some tv shows etc, the main thing that I found hard was the heat so defo take a fan and have some food in your bag ready for straight after the test!! You’ve got this! Xx

The drink isn’t fab but it’s also not horrible that I couldn’t drink it. I took a straw with me and found it easier to drink it through that than having big sips. It wasn’t even hot when I had my test but I was sweating about half an hour in, I spent most of my two hours in the toilet with no clothes on 😂

After reading so many negative reviews of it on here I really didn’t want to have mine and asked my obstetrician (even though I’d done my own research) what my other options are. I’m going in Tuesday to pick up a home blood sugar testing kit and I’ll be testing my blood sugar at various times for a week I believe. They say the oral glucose test is the most accurate but yeah the thought of it all didn’t sit right with me and we just had a normal blood test years ago with my first to determine if we had GD or not.

Thank you everyone!!
