Anyone’s babies self settling? And how are you doing it?? My baby is getting more and more difficult to settle!

Finding it impossible during the day and we even have the snoo. I'm not sure if it's because he's 8 weeks (apparently peak fussiness time) or the antibiotics in my milk (had mastitis) that are causing gas. Either way send helpppp

My baby stopped settling for anything but contact naps at home during the day around the same time (maybe even earlier) 😬 so now I just go out every day because she sleeps in the car/pram/carrier 😂 so now she just catnaps all day but tends to go at least one 6 hour stretch and a few 2-4 hour stretches overnight between 7pm-7am (ish)

Ok it’s not just me ha ha. Had to do a 2 hour walk today and she slept for last half hour then woke up as soon as I got home 🤣

Yep I'm feeling that...my baby WILL NOT transfer from car/pram/carrier for love nor money 😂 I kinda just go with the flow during the day now! Not sure when I'll need to bring some structure back 😬

Yep mine will only nap 2-3 hours some days.... and they never involve just being able to settle him and put him down, they need to be via a walk, baby wrap carrier, or going out and about in the car. And if not those things then he has to be so desperately tired that he'll fall asleep on me on the couch. Then transfer is always risky and most likely will wake up again 😅
I have no idea how people can get their babies to nap when they need to in the day I'm finding it so hard!!

At night time we can bath, bottle, burp and pop in swaddle and put bubs into the bassinet awake and she will settle off to sleep and sleep from 9:30pm through to 6-7am. We’ve been doing it since like week 4 or 5 and she now 11 weeks old. I seriously can’t believe that she does this so well.
We also go to bed when she does and she sleeps in our room so not sure if it’s because she knows we’re in there with her too or not.
During the day her naps are more touch and go and we need to get her sleepier to go to sleep and stay napping.
But I’m happy she’s sleeping at night so the daytime doesn’t really bother me.

wowww that’s amazing and good on you for establishing a routine that helps her settle! I’m no good at routine which probably doesn’t help 🤣

oh I think it just fell into place accidentally. It basically started with us being so tired that we were just sleeping when the baby slept and then it just fell into a little routine and I’m happy to go to bed at 9:30pm anyway.

What do you guys do with your babes during the day? Cause I'm worried maybe I'm overstimulating mine by talking to him too much/too much book time/music etc. But then if I don't do any of that he is just wide awake anyway even if I try to get him to sleep in the appropriate window times, I can rock and shoosh him for an hour and nothing, go for an hour walk, fall asleep for 20 mins then as soon as we're home BAM awake again lol

@Emma for the past week (8 weeks) since my baby has started getting fussy my day schedule has been: wake, nappy, feed, nappy (cos without fail he will shit the second the boob goes in his mouth), frantically try to entertain him (have been showing him my favourite songs on spotify recently) until he shows what I assume are tired cues, put him down in the snoo, he cries and I cave and put him back on the boob where he will fall asleep. Then assess whether it's worth the risk to move him to the bassinet and wake him up. Rinse and repeat 3-4 times in the day.

yeah I worry about that too but I’m the same… if I don’t play with her I’m just spending the whole day trying to put her to sleep 🤣🤣

so the Snoo isn't working for you no more? Or is it just taking day naps? I was considering whether it would be worth getting it but not sure what happens to sleep once bub gets too big for Snoo for the transition will work.

@Lisä the snoo still works amazing at night and does resettle him maybe 50% of the time during the day. It is still totally worth the money. Some babies apparently don't like it but the resale value is so high, you could buy it second hand and resell for the same amount if it doesn't work for your baby

My LO is going through her 8 week leap and I have found that feeding her, changing her and then tummy time or kicking around under the activity centre then a top up feed tiers her out. At the 70 minute mark I generally get her in her swaddle, make sure the room is dark (red light on) rock her for 15 minutes and she's out for almost 1-2 hours each time. I do also turn her Riff raff on in the Bassinet once transferred.
