Holiday abroad

Hello, hope you’re all okay x can I ask you about holiday with baby please? We’re going on 17th October to Gran Canaria - out little boy will be about 10 weeks xx

1. What pram did you take?
2. What did you do about sterilising?
3. Did you take car seat? We have upgraded to private transfer so not sure if we need to take one?

xx

Hey! We’re going to france in 2 weeks and she’ll be 9 weeks old.

Who are you flying with? We’re taking our usual pram (Uppababy vista) which easyJet let you take right up to the boarding gate. So super easy. Worth checking the advice for flying with an infant on your airline’s website if physically taking the pram is a concern. Otherwise just think about which pram you want to use out there and take that.

Sterilising - we’re going to use tablets.

Car seat - in france it’s not crucial so we’re not taking one and just having her on our lap. Tbh it’s another thing to lug around so if you can avoid maybe do so, but if you’d like one then I’m sure it would count as one of the extra items you’re allowed to take via your airline.

Hope that helps x

thank you. We’re flying with Jet2 but to be honest they haven’t been very helpful! I know I can check a pram and car seat in but like you said, if it isn’t necessary to take a car seat then I’d rather not have something else to worry about! Xx

You can take your normal travel system usually but I bought the Joie Pact as it’s really lightweight & suitable from birth.

Milton tablets for sterilising.

If you’ve got a private transfer you should be able to request a car seat- the company I used asked for her age & weight so they could get a suitable one.

I have a question about the tablets for sterilising as I got some for an upcoming trip and tried them out at home but I felt like all the bottles smelt so strongly of Milton I didn’t want to give them to my baby!

We came to the Bahamas last Friday with our 8 weeks old baby and he was incredible good, we took our normal pram and car seat, we left the carrycot with the bags at the check in and kept the car seat until we board. We took 7 bottles with sterilised water for the flight and bought the steriliser there. I don’t like the milton tablets, I think it does taste off. I also had the carrier and a cocoon baby pillow for the flight as they didn’t have bassinet available. Everything went well and better than I was expecting. Good luck 😉

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
