If they’re having formula they don’t need vitamin’s until stopping it as the formula contains certain things x

oh. I though If they dropped under a specific amount it was a good idea to start introducing them 🤷🏻♀️ in that case that’s fine. Thankyou x

My health visitor has always said to avoid it until they’re not on formula otherwise you could end up giving them too much instead and making them poorly x

When LO starts having 500mls or less of formula you need to start them on vitamins x

I’m gonna ask our HV this weekend at our review.

What vitamins should they take my sons 1 and has 1 bottle a day

If it’s 500ml or less then you give them vitamins.

It’s less than 500ml per day they need a multivitamin drop x

When they have under 500ml of formula per day

So I asked my HV today as she brought it up. Because formula contains vitamin A (as well as foods we feed our babies) then we don’t want to be overdosing them with vitamins on top. So once baby has transitioned fully over to cows milk we can add vitamin drops in to their diet.
There’s never a guarantee they’ll have less than 500ml every day.

but if they are having less than 500ml then the guidance is to give vitamin drops..?
My daughter only ever has 400ml per day max so because of this I give her the vitamins as advised by the NHS.

I’m only going by what my HV said. As long as baby is happy, healthy and developing well then I’m to keep doing what I’m doing. A lot of the foods we and our babies eat are fortified with vitamins. The main concern is too much vitamin A. I know the NHS guidelines state under 500ml but that’s all they are, guidelines. Personally I’m waiting until she’s on cows milk fully and adding the vitamins.
