My baby is nearly 7 weeks old and has had at least 1 bottle of expressed milk per day since she was a few days old. My husband has always given her this bottle but in the last week she is really fussy and crying throughout the feed. We are using mam bottles and have tried faster flowing teats and warming it up (she always took it straight from the fridge)- any other ideas please?

You want to be using a 0 teat, looking for full cues, swapping sides when feeding, stopping for a break every oz & pace feeding because you want to imitate the control baby has like the breast (as they do pace feed and stop often) and allow them to follow their body’s cues. She may have decided she wants a different bottle, lanisoh teats fit in the mam bottles. It may be that she’s finished when she cries & she’s had enough. She may want to graze or cluster feed instead. Don’t keep offering repeatedly though as you could create a bottle aversion.
How many oz are you offering? When does she typically start fussing?

we were originally using size 0 teat but tried size 2 today for the first time as I have a fast let down and wondered if that may be why she was getting frustrated. I’m not usually there as my husband feeds her so I can sleep for a little bit, so I don’t normally see but he says just in the last week she has been crying/ fussing intermittently from the start of the feed. today I was there and she did take it but she is just fussy throughout but she doesn’t push the bottle away or spit it out like she’s full, she just doesn’t seem to want to latch to it. He offered 2 ounces initially, then another 2 ounces as she was rooting still and she had around 1.5 of that. But then had a bf about. 30 mins later. He does pace feed and wind regularly
What do you mean by don’t keep offering it repeatedly? As in stop for a few days or keep offering at 1 particular feed ?

at a particular feed. So if she keeps fussing then try comforting instead & try again but not overly repetitive in that sit in. The 0 teat allows them to take control of taking what they want at their own pace, the bottle will drip regardless but your breast won’t.
Likely just a phase. The breastfeeding after may just be for comfort, they offer a lot more than food. Sounds like not overfeeding so unlikely to be a stretched tummy & uncomfortable. Have you /your OH tried feeding in the dark & silence? Skin to skin while feeding? :)

that makes sense thank you so much for your help!
Haven’t tried skin to skin yet so will give that a go

have you tried the flow rate 1? We used mam and the 0flow and then we tried the 1flow (was a little fast for our little guy) maybe the in between will be good?

If she’s gulping or milk spilling out do slower flow, if she’s getting fussy then she’ll prob need faster flow cause it’s not coming out quick enough for her
Pace feed her as if she was on the boob. Have the nipple half filled
Try warming bottle in bowl of hot water. The cold can become annoying to her
Try burping after each oz. She could be winded
Sit her up or lay her down to feed. My baby hates being held in a sleeping position when eating
Make sure nipple of bottle isn’t cold, that can be annoying too
