Ladies who have had c-sections whether scheduled or not on a scale of 1-10 how bad was the experience ? Just had my 28 week growth scan today and baby girl is measuring big and weighing big so likelyhood of a section has just doubled and I'm petrified it's not how I wanted to do this but mine ans her safety comes first

It’s not the greatest thing in the world but it’s not horrible-ish either. Like it hurts I’m not gonna lie. It’s quite painful especially after and trust me by the time when it’s going to happen you’re just gonna be like all right I’m over it let’s get this baby out that’s who I was might have two C-sections.

It definitely is painful for the first few weeks. They will give you meds afterwards, as long as you stay on top of that you’ll be ok. Mine was an emergency c section and I had to be put to sleep. So I can’t speak for the actual surgery. Getting up the first time after is the hardest part. Overall you’ll just be focused on your newborn baby 🤍

I had a great experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. My was scheduled, it was calm, peaceful and not especially painful.
Worst but was probs the spinal needle, but I didn’t even feel it, I was just anxious about it. Surgery itself was a lot of rummaging but not painful. Once the baby turned up, I didn’t pay any attention to any of the surgery.
Recovery, for me, was no problem. First couple of days you kinda have to roll out of bed in a pretty ungainly fashion, but after that, I had no issues and was up and about as normal pretty much straight away, although I don’t necessarily think this is the case for everyone, especially emergency sections from what I understand from friends.
Go with your instincts with regards with what to do, you know best, just talk through your options with your midwife and make sure you get any of your anxieties calmed for a natural or c section.

It was by far my worst pregnancy and delivery. My others were all normal deliveries but I had emergency abdominal surgery at 24 weeks that sent me into pre term labour at 28 weeks and then the surgery site didn't heal so planned section 34 weeks. Obviously not very fair comparison. What I will say is post op pain was far less painful than being pregnant with a breech baby and her head under the surgery site moving constantly

Honestly I’d recommend having a c section to anyone! I had an emergency one but always said if I do have any more then it’ll be a planned one. I felt so much more in control and relaxed than going through the unpredictable induction. Recovery was hard, but much easier when you listen to your body and do not over do it! The day I got home from hospital so 2 days after, I tried to unload the dishwasher and picked up a saucepan and as I bent down it felt like someone was ripping me apart I remember being so scared I thought I’d ripped open the scar.
Like seriously, don’t go trying to do the housework or lose the baby weight straight away etc, it took me about 8- 10 weeks to be able to walk 1 mile at a really slow pace before I needed to stop and take a break

Thankyou ladies I know if it's what needs to happen then obviously I won't stop it but I just wanted to bring her Into the world a different way it's just upset me quite a bit but I know there's needs to be a back up plan and whatever is safest for us both at the time I'm hoping if section is the way forward that it's a positive experience for us x

I ended up with one and IF I ever do have another baby I will be requesting one.
The procedure itself was absolutely faultless…the hospital team were amazing and I would easily do it again.
Yes the recovery is tough, but tbh so can natural births be but for different reasons. There is recovery in both situations and u won’t know how it’s gonna be until it happens, so if u haven’t experienced a natural birth then u have nothing to compare it to.
Maybe that’s another reason why I found it ok.
Given the choice I’d do it again, but I wouldn’t be induced again…I’d rather just go straight to a section.
Good luck.

Elective mum, definitely very individual but I didn’t struggle with pain or mobility at all. I’d say it’s a 2/3 because I had just given birth and was tired and learning to feed.
Pain was no worse for me than a period. Mobility was fine, I used the underground to get home.
I had a lovely experience, wonderful staff and very calm. Had the radio on, baby on my chest for skin to skin in under 15 mins. Up walking and showering alone by the end of the day.
Electives are very different to emergencies, less stressful on you and baby as well as less for your body to recover from x

I’ve had 2 and will be having my third in December. To be fair I have no comparison to a natural north cos I never made it that far but it the procedure was painless, the worst bit is the needle. The recovery is fine as long as you keep on top of meds and don’t push yourself too soon.

I've had 2, 1st was emergency and 2nd was a failed VBAC and not as much as an emergency. The 2nd time I had a Playlist for the OR, requested to be the 1st person to see and hold baby (unlike my 1st) and asked for better pain management so I couldn't feel all the tugging. The pain ball was amazing and I was out of bed faster. Ask your OB lots of questions so you have a better recovery and surgical experience.

I had an emergency one with my daughter and even though it was scary she came out healthy and safe and that was the most important thing. The recovery was no where near as bad as I'd thought and within a week I was pretty recovered and was able to walk around and look after my daughter fine. I'm having an elected section with this baby too and feeling pretty comfortable about it 😊 x

Recovery for me was fine, you just need to take the painkillers proactively, not reactively. I had an unplanned section, and will go for a elective one this time.

9/10 it was unplanned and I loved it. I would only change a couple of things by having a bit more time than 15 mins to process what was happening and to maybe go through more of my birth plan and have that implemented into the birth better? It was a really good experience otherwise

For me I found healing from c-section was easier then healing from Episiotomy, The actual c-section was the hardest part for me as I was very unwell with Pre-eclamsia and HELLP syndrome which affected how the anesthesic worked so it took longer then it should have, but everyone's experience is different, I'm having a elective c-section this time to.

Thankyou ladies, thankyou all of you will find out on my next growth scan if it's going to be a C-section xx
