Colic

I had it with my first. It's hard to deal with it. You have to manage. If there's a lot of screaming, noise canceling ear plugs. If there is a cause like GERD or silent reflux, you can try to treat it. Same thing with an allergy. Most of the time doctors don't know what is the cause of it. 😕

I take mine outside when he is crying. He like’s looking at the light and works like a magic every time.

them crying and you not knowing what to do is the worst. 🫂 Definitely try taking them outside like Manasa said or even get a baby carrier, if holding seems to calm them down.

I don't think my baby has colic, but a tongue tie and lip tie are making him need to nurse constantly. He starts screaming almost every time I try to put him down. I've just basically done my best to hold him 24/7. It's hard because I have 4 other kids to care for, but I know I'll someday look back on this time and miss when he was this little, so I'm doing my best to just soak up this time with him. I am getting a sling, though. That way I can hold him all day but still have use of both my arms lol. My house badly needs it. Everything has fallen into such disarray and I neeeeeed to catch up on chores.

have you thought of getting it released by ent? I did with my first son but now I'm wondering if I should with this one. He has no trouble nursing but does ask often

I have spoken to a couple of drs about it. Despite the tie causing him to nurse so frequently, he's had phenomenal weight gain (like he jumped from the 77th percentile to a 90-something percentile within the span of a little over a week). And him nursing isn't really causing me abnormal physical discomfort. It's just causing time constraints. So I decided to just leave his tie alone and cross my fingers that he'll have an easier time nursing when he gets older and his mouth grows bigger. I don't want him to undergo an unnecessary procedure or risk him facing issues because of the tie release.

that's what I'm going through with my second. He has gained 2 lbs in the first week of life, so he's obviously getting adequate milk. My doctor also recommended rubbing his top lip towards his nose, to stretch that a bit. The release was definitely traumatic for both my first son and my husband and I (whether he remembers it or not)

I haven't been stretching anything, but I do adjust his lips to the proper latch position (flanged out) every time we nurse. My hope is he gets used to his mouth sitting a certain way during feedings and he'll eventually do it on his own as he grows. He's been making slow improvements so far 🤞🏻
