I do it when the Dr okays it

My daughter is 4m & her pediatrician just gave us the okay for her to start having purées. She suggested to pick a veggie or a fruit and stick that food for 3 days & then you can try something new. I’d try veggies first just because fruits do have sugar in them and aren’t as hard to like as opposed to veggies. I just have my baby carrots and she loved them! Keep in mind that when you’re giving your baby purées that just because they are making faces or spitting it out doesn’t mean they don’t like it. It’s new to them so don’t get discouraged mama!

At our 4 month visit the doctor said it was okay

6 months minimum. Pediatricians are required minimum education on infant nutrition. Their tummies can’t handle anything but breast milk or formula before 6 months. WIC follows AAP guidelines.

I think you can start like 2 weeks before 6 month appointment. That way, it's almost a golden mean and if the baby has any reaction, Dr visit is right around the corner... 😊😊

My pediatrician said it was OK to start at 4m and to start with baby cereal with breastmilk to hydrate. We are waiting til baby can sit up unassisted and has better control of her hands, so closer to 6m even though we have been cleared. It seems that research suggests starting earlier can cause many illnesses with their tummies later in life.

my dr said the same

I've started small tastes to introduce allergens to lower the risk of allergies
Since moving the weaning age to 6m the rate of allergies has more than doubled, so they advise introducing allergens slowly from 4m (not full meals but very small amounts, can mix with a little formula)
