Colief

Breastfeeding my nearly 3 week old baby girl. After feeds, she cries like she is in pain. You can feel her stomach hard
she kicks her legs up and down. After some time, she does pump and poo.

I have bought some colief does this work? How are you getting this to your babies ?

Thanks

Apparently babies don’t know which muscles to use to poo when they’re first born so tense them all and crying also helps force it out so I think it’s quite normal

@Alex thank you, she cries like she's in pain not nice to see 😢 bought some colief to see if that's any help x

Do make sure to burp her all the time. Even without feed. Just pick her up and burp her to help settle the tummy

@Endurance I shall try that, I do burp her after every feed. She doesn't always give me anything

My little one is the exact same, also 3 weeks and breastfed. I think it’s trapped wind so bought infacol drops but don’t know how to give it to baby either.

My LO will not lie down on his back after a feed either no matter how much he’s been winded 😩 sleep is non existent for me🥴

I believe with Colief you have to add it to the milk which I couldn't do with breastfeeding. We went with infacol instead which you can drop directly into their mouth and it has given our baby some relief.

Hi Sarah currently have the same issue and tried Infacol but seems to have constipated him! I also have Colief but not used it yet. Did you try it? If so did it help? I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I’m exclusively breastfeeding so will need to express some milk to add the Colief x

Hi, sorry for the late reply, colief is very difficult to plan ahead of feeds. I just feed on demand no actual timings. So, getting the Colief ready is a bit of a nightmare. I have just stated infacol as easier to administer, especially if we are out and about. See how that goes doesn't work. I'll have to try to be more organised with the Colief x

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
