Hospital bag extras

So I have just found out I may have to have an elective c-section for my boy so he could now be an October baby! But I was just wondering if there is anything to add or change in my hospital bag if going in for the procedure please?

I'm having a c section and was recommended peppermint tea bags and gum to help with trapped wind, don't know if that's generally suggested or c section specific.

Make sure any waist bands on clothes are high so don't sit on your wound.

Easy to put on shoes for going home, cos bending down will be tricky

I think the average time in hospital is 2-4 days, so you may need a few more bits than a vaginal delivery where you could go home same day.

I'm also taking a water bottle that you can drink from when reclined, or take bendy straws, cos heaving yourself up to drink can be sore.

You'll still need pads etc, potentially not like sprits for your bits, if you have packed that.

Other than that all the same really 💛 I've not had a section before, but I have had 3 abdominal surgeries.

Thank you so much! Waist bands I will definitely check.
Good shout on the peppermint tea, I drink that anyways so can't hurt 💜

Absolutely, not sure how much it helps but just in case. Hope all goes well! 😊

It's all worth a try! Thank you so much! 🥰

Definitely peppermint tea and high waisted EVERYTHING. Flip flops (i know winter but your feet SWELL big time from DVT socks)

And not something for your bag but for your mental state. Give yourself grace and extra patience with healing and let hubby help with everything, you're gonna need it 💖

I had an EMCS with my first after a long hospital labour when i had planned a home water birth and it was such a whirlwind mindfuck for me the first week or so.
But on the plus side, you can ditch the peri bottle 😏😅.

I'd suggest maybe some vouchers for ordering food to the hospital if you're in there for longer than a day! Extra long charger lead. Comfy pillow or two!

@Caz High waisted everything, got it!!
Will do! He's already said he can't wait to do everything bless him.
Ah yes, didn't think about the peri bottle! Haha😂

@Sarah Thats a good idea! Wouldn't have thought of food vouchers. Pillow, good shout! Thank you💜

Pillow for the car journey home to to soften the seat belt.
Eye mask to help you sleep
It can take longer to establish breast feeding after a c section if you were planning to do that so a few of the ready milks with teats are handy to settle baby while your trying to express.

@Emma Ooh, good idea on the seat belt. I shall get the eye mask ready! Fab, I have some of the pre made bottles as we are formula feeding, but thank you :)

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

Newborn stage

Is anyone tired of doing the same thing everyday and being on a 2-3 hour schedule? It’s the same everyday and I feel like I’m losing my mind. It’s making me depressed even if I get out once a day. When does it get better? I feel like I’m just waiting for the next stage where it’s not just sitting around all day.
