My baby will not sleep at all if put down. I rock him to sleep and then it’s a struggle to put him down; he often wakes up and I have to start again. If I put him down drowsy he goes mental, the only option is to rock him to sleep. He won’t sleep in the pram or car seat. This obviously isn’t sustainable, he now weighs 17lbs and my back is in bits. How did you all get babies to self settle please? He won’t take a dummy which is annoying! X

I started putting him down in the cot. He cried but i did not pick him up. Instead i just stroked his nose and eyebrows. Now i can do this for a minute or so and walk away

Repeat the above message but also I let my LO kick around in her big cot whilst I found clean washing and tidy things away nearby. She loves to gaze at her mobile and kick her legs. We have lots of cuddles and talking time but I make sure she has a little playtime on her playmat and a kick in her cot every day so she isn’t one me the whole time.

He will grow out of it, mine is the same and the first one was like that too for about 5 months. Then gradually I was able to put her down more and more often after rocking to sleep. It was easier in the mornings and evenings. But she had to be wrapped in something stiff enough not to feel the change of temperature and body position when being put in bed. And I would do it super slow like over 2 minutes. It will get better, babies need to feel safe and close to us and there’s nothing wrong in it. I feel you though and hope your back gets better soon!
