Sweep and inductions
I got offered a sweep today but declined as I still have a week and a bit to go till my due date witch is next Friday 13th October so I wanna see if baby decides to come on his own, I have a midwife appointment booked the day before the due date which I’ll be offered again
And I’ve also been pre booked in for an induction on the 25th October
What actually happens during these things as I’m soo nervous for them with it being my first baby and being really self-conscious about doctors and people looking down there

They don’t really ‘look’ whenever I was examined with my first, they have a quick look to see where they’re going and then then just feel. You usually put something over you aswell, so like a paper towel covering you. I know it’s hard but please try not to be self conscious, they have seen EVERYTHING and I doubt there’s much that could surprise drs and midwives 🤣 it’s not like they have their head between your legs staring at you, don’t worry x
When your in pain/having contractions u won't care 🤣 i had a sweep on my daughter (3rd baby,1st girl) plus got induced to speed things up as i was just in so much pain struggling to walk ect. Midwives at the hospital said they never seen someone move as quick as me when i got offered to be induced if i went upto the ward right now😂🤣
Yeah I’ve got that in the back of my mind that they don’t care and there seen it all before lol but me being me I can’t stop thinking about it and not wanting them to do it and being g scared for any checks that need to be done down there

I've just had the balloon thing put in yesterday. They struggled to get it in and in the end it took 3 different people before it worked. I was thinking that it was very strange situation 😂 but they where determined to make it work. I've had the balloon thing out jow and it's worked.
I felt the same when I went in to have my first, didn’t want anyone to look at me lol! But in the moment you don’t seem to worry as much. My mum said leave your dignity at the door and collect it on the way out 🤣xx
Try not to worry they really don’t care about it. The midwife doesn’t really look during a sweep, she inserts one finger and if your cervix is soft, can feel babies head and literally “sweeps” her finger around in a circle. It isn’t painful, and if the cervix isn’t soft enough they won’t try to continue. I went into labor 24 hrs after my first sweep but I don’t know if they were related - could be that baby was just ready to be born!
I wish I was just able to not worry so much lol I’m just so embarrassed to have it but also would rather that than be induced xx
