Sleeping with partner?

Who here is sleeping with partner vs in a separate room? I’m curious to know what everyone’s night time routine is. I sleep in a different room whenever we don’t have visitors. The way I see it is I have to get up to pump when baby gets up anyways (he never latched so I’m exclusively pumping) so what’s the point of partner also losing out on sleep? However I will say we do have a very easy newborn so usually he will eat then go back to sleep at night so there isn’t much a partner needs to do to help. Really just curious what everyone is doing!

I feed, partner changes diapers and lays her back down after she’s done feeding so i can use the restroom and change my own diaper 🤣

You don't want him to lose out on sleep? You're a better woman than i am.. especially postpartum!! I would just hope my partner would wake up with me at least some of the time, help any way possible! Can you pump enough to last thru the night so you can rest & he can feed baby?.. even getting to sleep thru 1 feed gives me 2+ more hours & it makes a world of difference!
I'm not sure how much support your partner has been able to give you or what the work/housework/baby care situation is, who does what or if it is equal, but I would rather sleep with my partner & my own bed, even with baby in bassinet right next to me, then sleep separately, even tho it is awesome of you to be so considerate & being willing to sleep separately & do the night work/feeds yourself without asking for or expecting help!

My husband, baby and me are all in our room (and in our bed 😅). Husband hangs w baby for an hour or two around 9pm so I can get all of my bedside essentials ready (pump parts, bottles, burp cloths, etc) then I handle all night time care. Husband is back at work so needs the sleep more than I do at this point 😅

I have been a single mom, always will be I'm sure since I have sworn off men & would never get married haha
I have always slept alone, aside from co-sleeping with my son until 19mo & now will be co-sleeping with baby girl I expect because I cannot sleep unless my babies are close!

If I were in your situation tho, had a partner, I would honestly not want them to lose sleep, but wouldn't sleep anywhere but next to them! ♡

I would also be just fine with taking care of the night stuff for baby, I am just like that.. empath.. also I am not happy or at peace unless the people around me are good!
Sorry for the long post, my life story!! But wanted to say everything & have it make sense?

We are all in the same room, but my husband sleeps through EVERYTHING hahaha. I get up to feed and pump and he sleeps! He usually does the midnight feeding and then I do 3 am and 6 am and depending on his work schedule he will do 9am! Also exclusively pumping. I

If he were to wake up then he would probably sleep in our guest room to get sleep.

He’s working while I’m at home on maternity leave so I’m okay that he gets sleep and I dont! I’ll nap once during the day while baby naps

My baby doesn't allow us to sleep at the same time so he does nights and I do days

Husband and I sleep in same room with baby, but most of the time my husband sleep through baby’s wakes. I’m ebf but he will help changing diapers sometimes while I go to the bathroom or if our oldest daughter wakes then he will go and sleep with her so that she doesn’t stays up too long since they get up early to go to school (he drives her everyday 30 min to and from school) so I let him sleep when is closer to 5am or else he won’t sleep anymore and I’m afraid of him driving out daughter while sleep deprived.

Yeah unless I’m in the bathroom and baby is crying her head off bc I can’t run to her, he doesn’t get up. I do the feeding and changing and it doesn’t bother me to do it but I do wish he’d take initiative. He really only holds her then passes her off but doesn’t do any actual “work” when it comes to her. He does the other work around the house & gets food for me and makes sure to ask if I need anything from a store or something

We are sleeping separate because I am EBF and co-sleeping. He is a heavy sleeper and I worry about her plus he is useless at night. I am sleeping fine. He does almost all the chores and takes care of me during the day so I can breastfeed.

Avatar

We are coparenting and I am EBF but on the two nights he stays here he sleeps on an air mattress in the living room because I can’t stand his snoring and kind of dislike sharing a bed with anyone but baby anyways. Grateful he’s patient and helps with laundry & groceries as I do everything when he’s gone and always at night. We might still try living together in December and plan on having a three bedroom so we have separate spaces.

We sleep in the same room. I told him that I can sleep in the other room but my husband is needy lol 😂😂😂 jokes aside he wanted to help with the baby that was the main reason.

Avatar

Separate. I do everything while he does nothing but work!!

Avatar

omg I guess I’m more tired than I thought bc I thought you were telling us to separate like as a couple and I was like wtf 😂 I’m with it now. Yeah my husband is finishing his paternity leave and then he will do nothing but work to try to make enough that I can stay home. So I’m cool doing all the night time stuff lol

Oh no that's not what I meant! I'm so sorry that's how it seemed.

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.
