Hi, my baby is 8 months and we have been doing solids since 6 months.. he loves beening spoon-fed weetbix, fruit and veggie purees. He can eat things like pumpkin pieces and squashed blueberries if I feed him but overall he doesn't do well with different textures and he doesn't bring any food to his mouth himself. He can pick it up but he doesn't bring any to his mouth. He doesn't like any store bought baby snacks.
I am wondering how much longer it is acceptable to spoon feed purees and by what age he should be able to eat normal foods and feed himself?

I am not sure, but my experience has been that around 8 months is when my baby started actually eating something. Until then, he wasn’t really and we also started solids at 6 months. Do you offer the same thing several times? I was given that advice at one point and he would play with it 5 times and put it in his mouth the sixth. We were also trying to have at least some of the stuff same things as him on our plates, eating as well. The baby should ultimately try to mimic you. For example sweet potatoes, bananas etc. aren’t that horrible as an adult 😅. My son only started to be interested in baby snacks when he started teething. His teeth came on the late side - not until 10 months, but all at once 🙈. With purees, I would dip the baby spoon in it and give it to him to attempt to feed himself. It makes a terrible mess, but it worked for us… and I was trying to not give him super smooth purees, you can buy or cook some that have little pieces in it too.
