I’ve never made it this far in a pregnancy so I’m a bit clueless. I’m in orange NSW Australia - but I have no clue where to get a midwife/… does it cost money? :/ where do u start all this? I’ve had gp refer me to like 6 ultrasounds now but never a suggestion of midwife or a birth plan prenatal plan. 😖😣

Assume you're going to deliver in public hospital? Tell your GP to start referring you to the chosen hospital. Do a personal research on the referral system and what to expect. Typically low risk birth midwife appointment starts around when you're 10-14th week . But high risk, like for me, I will have my first appointment at 8th week. The appointments are typically covered by medicare but some scans are not and they may refer you to see a practicioner outside hospital (due to unavailability of services etc), but it's not a lot of money. It's mostly cost of scans that is out of pocket, that's what I heard. I'm in Sydney though, unsure about Orange. Good luck.

I’m high risk too 🥺 thank you so much

all the best to u! For me I had to be extra proactive eg. Calling hospital to follow up on the referral progress, re-mentioned that i have an autoimmune and that my rheumy is actually from the same hospital. After one week, I called the hospital and found out that they lost my referral (originally sent by fax by my GP, I however also personally emailed them). My GP told me just go to physically to Hospital and hand in the paperworks. But luckily after some more emails, the hospital quickly pick it up and called me that they will see me early as I am high risk. Good luck😊

Go online and fill in the intake form. I had to do that this morning. I did two intake forms for two hospitals so will choose properly once they contact me.
