Hey mamas. So my LO is almost 11 months, we've moved from pure purees to purees with chunks in them. I want to try and get him to self feed now. But whenever I present anything on his plate, he either plays with it or throws it away, does not taking anything in his hand or put to his mouth ot taste/eat. Any ideas/advice on how to encourage self feeding, right now he doesn't seem interested at all

I did the same with purée, chunky purée then solids, I started by feeding him the chunky purée as normal so he was 90% full then I did have to hand feed him a little bit to start with so he realised it was for his mouth not just to be played with, we would also sit and eat while he was with us at the table so he would see us doing it and would copy, we used the Ella’s puff crisps too to help the chewing something more solid rusks are also good for the same kinda thing 😊

When I first transitioned from chunky puree to finger foods, I put some on the tray for her to play with whilst also feeding her some
Within about a week or two she was mostly feeding herself with only a few "floor casualties"
Also finger snacks like puff crisp, baby biscotti and the rice cake snacks you can buy also help encourage them
Not sure if this will help for yourself but it helped with me x
