Highchair

Hello! Im so torn with high chairs! My little is 6 months but still quite small (prem) and cannot sit up yet. I was looking at the ikea antilope as it was recommended for smaller babies but noticed it doesn’t have shoulder straps to hold babies up properly (going to accessorise and add a footrest). Whereas a lot of the other highchairs with shoulder straps, the footrest is too low and her legs will dangle until she can reach it or they’re so big she might not be able to reach the tray.

My question is, are over the shoulder straps necessary or will she be ok with only being strapped in at the waist?

Thank you for any advice 🤍

I had a premie so at 6 month my baby was the same to small for majority oh the high chairs so we did a lot of lap feeding and placing baby in a place where they can stay ina. Seated position. I’ve seen other moms that put a towel behind the baby to bring them forward but sitting and lap position was the best for us

Id highly recommend the Tutti Bambini 2in1 Nova Lite Highchair & Bouncer 0 - 12 Year, it does so much! Useful throughout all ages so your not buying loads of different things to store. Has a newborn seat that come with shoulder straps and waist a bit like a car seat.

IKEA sell a cushion that goes inside the high chair that provides even more support and makes the space inside smaller.

We have a chair with the shoulder straps and haven’t found they prevent slumping. Our daughter can sit up completely unsupported indefinitely, but chooses to slump herself down, so I wouldn’t say shoulder straps are essential. X

One thing that a consultant told me that I didn't think about before is that while we think shoulder straps are important, you are supposed to be there, attentive at all times. If baby chokes while eating, it's important for you to pull out baby ASAP and shoulder straps might jeopardize that first response timing. So I'd say, no, you can do without them as long as you are there next to baby.

We’ve got the joie I recommend it. You can even lay it back so it’s not in a very upright position and baby can lay down in it. My baby is 3 months and we use it with the lay down setting. I think it was £60.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(
