My LO is 10 days old and I’m exclusively breastfeeding.
However, I’m constantly feeling engorged even after a long feed and swapping breasts half way.
I’m unsure whether to pump to relive the engorgement or would that encourage my body to make more? I’ve tried taking showers, massages and warm compresses but none of it seems to be working.
Is this normal and my milk supply is still being established or am I over producing?

I was told it’s normal and last 6 weeks until your supply regulates! What I found that helps me get some relief is using a haaka along with massaging top to areola with fist it gets the hard lumps from engorgement out

My consultant recommended only feeding from 1 breast per feed, you only have to use both to help up the supply (which you clearly don’t have a problem with), once you have a steady supply you can give 1 breast per feed and that will help baby get the back milk as well! Do bear in mind that through growth spurs baby might need to have both breasts again temporarily. Hope that helps!
