Has anyone elected for a c section (non medical reasons) at St Michaels? If so, how was the reception to your request? Were you listened to or was there hostility? I know my rights, and I’m willing to cite them, but I’d be interested to know how other people experienced the initial conversations. Thanks in advance!

My 4th was 50/50 if I’ve have a planned c section or they make me labour, my 1st was planned c section due to breech, then 2rd was textbook prefect vac birth, but my 3rd I gave birth early at 22 weeks and he didn’t make it, so when come to my 4th I said I just can’t do a never natural not after my 3rd but in end got my planned c section bang on 37 weeks no other reason when I didn’t want to do labour again, xx

I had an elective section at at mikes and they were brilliant and nothing but supportive
that’s good to know, thank you. Can I ask if you had a medical reason behind it? X

Yeh I’m epileptic but had the choice between elective section or natural. They never once questioned me or pushed me towards a natural birth and supported my decision. Is it a medical reason for you wanting a section or choice? X
thank you for sharing. This is a choice for me that is not yet based on medical need. although I am still carrying out my research and weighing up my options (I am 26 weeks so have a bit of time) I very much feel like choosing a c section is best for me based on how I personally interpret the risks. I have just heard about a lot of women experiencing judgement and pushback from midwives/doctors when making the request so interested to know what it’s been like at St Michaels ☺️

OP, I'm in a similar position. I'd like a section but it's not for medical reasons (due to trauma from my first labour) I'm under consultant care at St Michael's and had a conversation early on about the possibility and they were really lovely. They didn't try to push me in either direction and made it clear that it's totally my choice. I'm 99% sure that's what I'll go for but not due until Feb so a little while to finally decide!

I had an elective section in August and they were really great. No questioning of my choice and lots of info and support given
