I had a sweep this morning at 9am I’m 40+1. Midwife said it went well said I’m 2cm dilated and cervix is soft however I’ve not had any cramps or pains since does this mean it’s not worked? When should I expect to feel pains etc? First time mum and feeling fed up of not going into Labour haha. Anyone who’s had a sweep what happened for you? Is there anything I should be doing Xx

I don’t think the sweeps really do much to be honest! It sucks but your labour well start when baby is ready to come and you just have to wait 😂 hope they don’t keep you waiting too much longer 🤞

I had two sweeps recently, my first was at 40+0, had it around lunch time and was having cramps for around 24 hours. I also lost my mucus plug at this point and was 2cm dilated. Unfortunately that didn’t really do anything as I actually gave birth at 41+6 after what felt like trying every method I could find. I went in to be induced at 41+5 in the evening and they started with a sweep as I was 3cm so the pessary wouldn’t have done anything apparently. About 1&1/2 hours later contractions started at around midnight and I gave birth at 6.25am. So could’ve been the sweep or could have been pure coincidence ! The midwife in the hospital told me to bounce on my Ball loads after but again could have been coincidence xx

I had one at 39 weeks was also 2cm dilated I had my little boy that same day, but I do have really fast labours so they always work for me x

Feel like it's a fancy word for calming our vaginas down🤣💖 didn't do shit for me

They work for one in eight people approximately

I had 4 sweeps and none worked!

Go for a walk! Stair walking and curb walking. Keep active.
It worked for me!! Xx
