Sleep

Me and my partner are SO exhausted, new born night wakings was a breeze compared to what we’re going through now, our son has always been an awful sleeper but lately it’s just got worse, I know his not teething nor a sleep regression as what he does is just constant since he was a young baby.

He has a great bed time routine, he sleeps on a double mattress on the floor with pillow and small duvet, he has never got on with the cot never, it’s easier for one of us will sleep with him all night as it’s just easier to deal with how many times he wakes up hence the double mattress so we all have room. It’s doesn’t even help that we’re next to him knowing we’re there. Soon as we go to bed he gets up and moans, has a cry, he tosses and turns all night and just has a moan, it’s like his bothered by something but we do everything, dress him to right temp, give him a bottle, his got a dummy, change his nappy if it’s full, he is just absolutely awful at sleeping and tbh me and my partner are struggling with daily life because we are exhausted and don’t know what to do. We have come to terms that this is just what his like and have to wait until he grows of it, but surely there’s got to be a reason 😓😓

Any tips, should I speak to HV? Doctor doesn’t seem to give a crap when we’ve gone and spoke to them before

No tips just solidarity as this sounds really tough. I to have a bad sleeper. He’s 19 months & hasn’t slept through the night since he was a baby.

I literally could of written this myself! We are in the exact same situation. We have spoken to the Dr and he is on the waiting list for a sleep study as we think he’s got sleep apnea. Always worth a chat with the Dr or HV. 🫶🏼

how bloody hard is it though 😩 how are we meant to handle a toddler or work in the day after such bad nights! Our boy has never slept through!! I thought I could understand as they go through so much but by nearly the age of 2 he would be getting a good nights rest by now he doesn’t stop 🫣

oh that’s interesting, I’ve been Googling this myself and saw sleep apnea.. does your son snore? Or any signs of sleep apnea? I’m going ring HV today

He snores but the biggest issue is his mouth breathing. If he sleeps on his stomach he has longer stints of sleep (3-4hours) but on his back he wakes up screaming & constantly wriggling around. It’s exhausting & I too hold on to the hope that he will just get better at sleeping with age but after having the initial ENT assessment that confirmed he has huge tonsils. It has made it slightly easier to deal with the nights when there bad knowing we could have a solution soon x

We’ve got a referral for ENT as my son has pauses in his sleep and mouth breathes / snores which can definitely affect sleep maybe his tonsils or adenoids are enlarged?
Either that or potential intolerance or allergy giving him a sensitive tummy?

Same with us!!! My lil one is the perfect princess in the day but we pay for it at bed times. She has not slept through since she was 6 months. We have tried every single thing!
HV I find useless and they'll make me feel more like shit than I already do and my doctor said she.must be hungry. My lil one is a fussy eater too! I hope it passes

We are also exhausted!! Our little boy has never been a great sleeper but the past couple of months he wakes screaming the place down from 3am ish and just will not go back to sleep, we've also been really consistent but nothing Is working. If we are lucky we get the odd 4am or 5am. Your not alone!

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m “losing my sh*t.” Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.
