My little boy is 9 months in about a week and he has been EBF. Tomorrow I am going out for the day and he will be left with my mum for about 6-7 hours without me. He is on solids but still enjoys BF a few times especially before his afternoon lunch and when he will be having his afternoon nap and sometimes during it and after he wakes up. The longest I have left him is 2.5hours as I know he’s ok if I feed before and after that duration. I have tried to express but hardly get anything out as he is more sufficient is accessing the milk as I can hear him suckle. I have no idea which milk to leave with my mum. Should I give him formula, ready pre made milk or to give cows milk as I have been told they used to give cows milk from 9 months onwards but it has changed to 1 years old now.
Any advice would be appreciated please. TIA

Definitely don’t leave cows milk. It’s not recommended until 1 as you say, because it doesn’t have the nutrients babies need like breast milk or formula. If you don’t have enough expressed milk then I would leave formula! X

I’m the same with my boy - I left the other day and he had formula. He didn’t take tons, ate a yoghurt though. Made up for bf when I got home xx
it is hard leaving them. My boy refused the bottle completely and made up for bf when I got back after 4.5 hours. Trip got cut short as my mum rang me to make me aware of the situation. He did have some solids which he threw up so I felt guilty and made sure I got to him asap. Bf is a commitment and the hardest but most rewarding job ever! Proud of us mamas!

It really is the hardest commitment. Never a moment to yourself and it feels like most people just don’t understand why you don’t leave them. It’s good practice though, he’ll soon get used to it? Xx
