Has this happened to you?!

I’m almost 25 weeks into my pregnancy and ever since I found out I was having a ⭐️ baby girl 🥰 I was so excited to share with friends&family — When asked if I had come up with a name, I was so excited to say YES!

We want to name her Chrysanthemum.
(Chris-anthem-um)
People were flabbergasted, disgusted in some cases, and overall so rude and morbid about this decision:
“That’s a long name don’t you think?”

“I would never name my child that— you should name her Daisy instead”

“that kid is gonna hate you”

“how will she even write her own name?”

One of my *friends* even burst out laughing, almost to tears IN MY FACE, even to the extent of having to hide her face from me. All this meanwhile holding her own son who is a Junior.
Mind you this name was carefully curated after losing FIVE angel babies. FIVE. So i’ve been waiting for this moment a very painful, long time.
Am I really just delusional for thinking I like this name? Or are people just so unoriginal that it hurts them to see something unique?

Also any middle name suggestions???

Honestly people always have something to say this is why I mostly kept my baby name a secret until I had him because they will try to convince u of names they like… which whatever they think should not matter. As long as you love that name

We named our Sons Saylor & River
Im sure people would’ve had lots to say, but we made it clear we didn’t want their opinion. Someone will always ruin it and go overboard on how much they don’t like whatever it is.. I’m so sorry you had to experience that
I will say , the people in our family now like their names and think they’re fitting after having them here
Once they can connect your baby girls name to face, they will accept it, I promise you ( not that they need to accept it, cause it’s your babe!)

I also think their reactions do sound dramatic.. isn’t there a kids book with that name?? It’s not like your naming her mitochondria 😅

it’s a flower

yes! It’s actually a kids book about how (I think it was a mouse) had such a complicated name y hat her peers made fun of her, but she learned to fall in love with it. Sounds kinda like this post a little

People can be so rude! I’m sorry that happened.
My baby has a unique name and while pregnant people were not shy to hide their opinions (I really understood why people wait until baby is born). However, I felt like I connected with the name and would not sway from it. Me and my partner just laugh when people comment “oh that’s.. different” now. Now he is here my family like the name and think it suits him.
I think people also forget as well if a child really hates their name it can be changed.
Personally I love unique names.
I have learnt others feel very entitled when you have a baby. They push names on you and even how you should parent when all they need to do is support you.
If you and you partner love the name USE THE NAME!! You know your baby best xxx

You name your baby whatever you feel makes you happy girl! Don’t pay any attention to those who make fun of the name etc it’s about you and what you want 🫶🏽

I’m not sharing my little girls name for this exact reason!!!

I’ve had a lot of opinions and I don’t want one on my little ones name! It means something to me & my husband so why does it matter what they think is my thoughts!

I’m so sorry this has happened to you!

In regards to middle names have you got any family members you’ve lost that you were close to that their names mean something. Xxx

Don't worry about what others think if you're both happy with it. I think it's a beautiful name and she'll love it when she's older.

Middle names
Grace
Melody
Alessia
Eve
Mae

First and foremost I am so sorry to hear about the losses you’ve had to indoor. That is a journey I am sure you wouldn’t wish on any one and I am so happy to hear you’ve got a new blessing on the way.

Names are always difficult and for us this time around we kept the name a secret till our daughter arrived (Lauren) because of people’s opinions.
Really at the end of the day she’s no one’s child besides yours but if you do value your loved one’s opinions maybe explore other options that still have the meaning you are looking for and sit on the name for awhile.
From the way you typed out the pronunciation of the name. she will likely end up getting Chris when she’s older. Is that something you like? Lots to consider, wishing you all the best 💓

Ooo I like Mae for the middle name!

Im sorry people are so nasty, not cool. I will offer a different perspective my first name is 7 letters and combined with my maiden last name I had a really long and uncommon name. I hated it growing up. People would always misspell it or mispronounce and it was an inconvenience sometimes to have a long name. For example when I first became a notary public my stamp had to match my legal name and my name had to match any documents I notarized. Of course you should name baby what youd like I just thought Id offer the perspective.
I would advise to not share the name until after though.
We didnt share our girls’ names until they were on the birth certificate and I think it really did keep people from giving their opinions.

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

Is it bad of me to think this or no?

My husband has been abroad for work (1 day and exploring for 1 day) for 2 and a half days which means I’ve had both kids (1 year and 4 year old) for 2 and a half days plus cooking, cleaning, taking them to clubs, bedtimes!
He came home late afternoon and said I’m so tired, I just need to chill. I said can you wash up whilst I sort kids dinner out, he said he’ll do it later which means he won’t do it and I’ll end up doing it so I said no do it now please otherwise I’ll end up doing it and he said well you have been home and I’ve been away so you’ve just been relaxing.
Don’t know what planet he is on but having the kids alone for 2.5 days is not relaxing. I was stressed!

When he was away, I did miss him and wanted him to come back but now he’s back, I want him to go away again😂
Is that bad?

Shift worker daddies - advice please?

My husband works shifts (6am-6pm days or 6pm-6am nights) so when he’s on shift we either get about an hour or 2 before he goes to work or an hour or 2 when we gets home with him.

I don’t think people who aren’t married/have babies with shift workers fully understand the impact of feeling like a solo parent sometimes.

Does anyone have any advice? I do have parents who can help but I struggle to leave my baby with others as I always feel like they don’t understand the need for tracking wake windows or feeds and our baby will not sleep unless we black out a room or go for a car drive . Everyone seems to think ‘if he’s tired he’ll drop off’ - no he’ll just get overtired and have to then pay for it during his night sleep. So I feel like it’s just easier for me to do it all myself.

When my husbands off work he is great but I do take the mental load of telling him what to do or even reminding him of wake windows etc because he’s not here and forgets routines. He’s also being tested for ADHD currently so there’s that on top of shift work.

Just looking for advice on how to stay sane/keep routines or share loads with shifts workers?

Thank you ❤️

Feeling like I’m failing

Hey guys, I need some advice or some positivity here!
My daughter is 5 months next week and she has her first tooth coming through! Yay! But for the past month or so she has become so wary of family whenever I go to visit! She screams, won’t settle, cries the whole time. I went for my birthday to celebrate and I had to leave because she just would cry looking at anyone :( it’s so hard because she used to be so good with anyone!

Will this change or is this just the way she is? I try to see them as often as I can, and my MIL is looking after her in two weeks overnight and part of a day and I’m petrified of what’s going to happen, that she’s going to scream. My poor MiL 😭. I’m a very calm and collected person and I don’t get worked up when she does react this way… I just feel so sad and down that I can’t be with family and that my poor girl is scared. I give her so many cuddles, milk, toys, going to a quiet room, but she just doesn’t settle 😭

Please someone say this is a phase and there is light at the end of the tunnel ?!!

With the weather getting nicer I just feel we are going to miss out on so many lovely family memories

Really bothered by this

A friend posted this and it really bothers me because that is exactly how she parents her kid, and it's rather unfortunate because when our kids hang out together, her kid has a meltdown at least 5x within an hour. We have know them for years and it's only gotten worse. My kids will concede to hers, because they don't want to see their friend crying, but it sucks because they give up so much of their toys and enjoyment to keep the peace. We aren't hanging out as much anymore but it's rather sad to think she doesn't intervene more in her child tantrums and just let's it slide
