I will be exclusively pumping (as long as I produce enough). I’ve heard you can start pumping before the baby is born but I’ve never pumped or breast fed before. I’m 36 weeks, what do I do?

Are there any breastfeeding classes near you? That helped me to learn what to do

I found a local lactation Consultant who is helping me. Not super expensive either. I paid $50 for an hour appointment and I got alot of information. I'll be breast feeding and pumping.

I will have to look to if I can find one near me, I just want to make sure I can produce enough and if starting to pump now will help I want to. With my son he wouldn’t latch and I didn’t produce enough

My OB absolutely is against pumping before birth. It can cause extreme contractions which can make baby’s heart rate dangerously increase if you are not monitored closely. The only time they allow it is if you are being induced and baby is hooked up to monitoring ☺️

I was told not to pump at all until birth since nipple stimulation can cause labor. They did tell me i can hand squeeze to collect colostrum if i have some

I am 39w + 3 and have been pumping colostrum since 38w. I just googled and used YouTube lol

Pumping does cause contractions I didn’t start until I was 37-3 days. And I had my baby 37-4 days haha so wouldn’t recommend if not adleast 37 weeks.
