My son is 20 months old and still babbles. He’s not saying any words that are clear to others but my family and I can understand him. He doesn’t point, wave etc. The only gestures he makes is for me to pick him up (he puts his hands up). He is currently in speech therapy because his Dr. thought it may be a speech delay. He is also a very picky eater. Rarely tries anything new. In terms of Movement, cognitive and social/emotional milestones, he’s doing very well. He also has a very short attention span. He doesn’t always answer me and prefers to play by himself . The only time he plays with me is if I join him. He doesn’t hand me toys or anything. Im just trying to see if someone else is/has experienced this and was your child diagnosed with Autism?

Hello. I went through something similar with my son…who is now 5. He needs ABA therapy in addiction to speech, please call 311 and get early intervention to do an assessment. Trust me the earlier the therapy starts the better the outcome. He might not be autistic at all, or possibly has mild autism

Hi mom of a autistic 5 year old who noticed some of the things you mentioned our pediatrician thought It was only a speech delay but when he was Evaluated for speech therapy the therapist noticed some things and had an ot come in as well as pt and psyc he was eventually diagnosed with autism we got him early intervention and now he’s doing so much better. Get him an evaluation as the commenter prior to me stated the earlier the better the early intervention really helped him progress! Best of luck to you!
