Okay so I have four dogs all small but they bark at everything. I am not due until June, but how did you all prepare your dogs for the baby and not get them to bark all the time? Here are two of them, I have two more

My dogs still bark just something I have to deal with and say SHHHHHHH when she’s taking a nap 😂 I’m sure you could train them though if you were committed to it. Look up how to get your dogs not to bark on tik tok or YouTube!

I mean, you can use the penny bottle trick for unnecessary barking... that or an anti-bark collar that spritz a bad smell when the dog barks (my grandma had one for her barking dog, it doesn't smell bad to people just dogs). Though I will say be careful with the anti-bark collar. My cousin sneezed next to my grandma's dog and it went off.

I have four LARGE 60-95lbs dogs and some of the things we did were:
- Wash all our clothes with the same detergent as baby’s
- wash dog beds/blankets with the same detergent
- set boundaries for baby room
- taught them to “leave it” and “back up” and “gentle”
- no dogs allowed on the bed/couch anymore
- no table scraps
Dogs were barking all the time when I was pregnant, they still bark and baby is totally unphased by the dogs barking now (he’s 6 months)
I will say that while I trust my dogs, I am not ignorant enough to leave my baby unattended when the dogs are just roaming or chilling next to baby. I am always there with baby to watch for warning signs from dogs. But, the dogs have learned to keep space when baby is doing tummy time or playing in his jumper.

Mine bark when we crate and feed them. My baby sleeps through it. I’m at a dog show and he’s sleeping through it lol

We use a white noise machine. It's louder during the day then at night to allow for us to do anything we need to while they sleep. If they get woken up it's typically not to hard to get them back to sleep. But my dog only barks at the door or if he can see people/dogs walking by.

Like others have mentioned, barking is good for baby. They’ll be used to it and you won’t have to worry about sounds while they sleep.

Make them feel included as much as you can. They act out less. My baby girl sometimes barks bcuz she’s a dog but when I speak to her firmly she stops

Anti bark collars are helpful for a long-term barking solution

this is what happened with my baby, he can fall asleep with any noise but has a super hard time if it’s quiet

If the baby is around barking since day one, I promise you the baby will get used to it and adapt. Personally from experience, I would think to not do anything different first few weeks may be rough until the baby normalizes the sound and knows it’s not danger but rather normal. It will be ok I promise ❤️

Saw you have a boston, we do too! Loveee all dogs but our Boston has been our heart dog. She did phenomenally well with our baby. Space for them to sit and relax is important, we never have let our dogs get anxious around windows and we live in town. Back them up from windows and reward with treats when they do, people or no people there. Having a room dedicated for the dogs when people are over, and then having beds in there and a relax space is wonderful. Outside of that like mentioned there are options with collars. We use a vibration collar, no shock no prongs. It's just redirection. We have an Aussie and a boston, the Aussie loves to lick and kiss, but she has been a rehomed dog and has no serious attachment to any kid. Our daughter is more attached to her. Our Boston was with us when baby was born

We didn't do anything too special, I have a bed for her in our room and the nursery and went for walks with her during pregnancy. Her hardest thing to deal with is she is used to being on my lap and sleeping there but with a baby/toddler there was never enough space and she would have to move within 10 minutes for me to pump etc. she handled that well but you can tell she is sad about it 😭 if they have grown up around kids it makes a huge difference, big and small. If your dog does turn its nose as smells when you come home that would be something I'd worry more about for laundry and stuff like that but we didn't have an issue with that either. I think it's unnecessary, baby is going to smell like baby and birth specifically coming from your body, they already pick them smells up beforehand. Play nursery music often. Hardest day for them is when you will actually be gone and then come back with another human being. Have someone stay with them who they like a lot!

Lol my dog got used to me "shhhhing"
