Any advice on getting penicillin down my 14 month old? 😫 he’s gotta have it 4x a day for 10 days and he HATES it. Tried to put it in his favourite yogurt and now he won’t eat his yogurts and I’m scared to put him off anything else by trying to mix it into it 😭 help please besides pinning him down to have it which is just gunna be traumatising for everyone involved I’m not sure what else to do ☹️

Try a smoothie? Heavy on banana as that overtakes any flavour. Perhaps some oats in it

Is this PenV? If so our LB was trialled this in hospital and it tastes VILE. It’s looks nuclear. We requested clindamycin/ amoxicillin instead as he tolerated that better

yes Phenoxymethylpenicillin 😫😫 my other half tried it and said how disgusting it is it almost burns 😭😭

the thing is he’s pretty off all food at the moment because he’s unwell 😭 but will give it a try thank you xx

We put it in my little girls bottle teat and she drank it before she noticed x

yeah I tried it because it made my lb vomit it is so vile. I asked for a different one because I would rather have a different antibiotic that he would take and could get into him as soon as possible to start working than him not able to take it at all. Maybe give them a call and ask tomorrow?

Not perfect idea but my little one loves calpol so put both in 2 syringes and shoot a little of each or shoot the bad then chase with the good??

Hate to say it but pinning down is the only way that works for us and he’s had tonsillitis about 7 times since May so there’s been lots of different attempts of other ways xx

Do they have a dummy? My LB has been in hospital for a week and he really wouldn’t let us out anything near his mouth, we were forcing it open with all the drs and nurses , then one nurse had a technique which saved us!! Give them dummy then when you take it out they open their mouths then put the syringe in then the dummy back in really quick so they swallow then repeat the technique. Helped for us!
