Sleep training?

Nothing yet googled a few different ideas but not sure what’s best or how to start

We're transitioning my boy to do this now. We started by laying him down once he was asleep. We're now at a stage where we snuggle until his eyes are dropping, then will lay him down and hold his hand until he falls asleep. Once we've done this a short while, we'll lay him down at bed time without the hand holding to see if he can self settle. We're considering trying him with a comforter for sleep time too as he likes to hold something (usually my hand) to fall asleep.
However, why can your childminder not aid baby to sleep? I can understand not doing contact naps as there's things they need to do whilst children nap, but in all childcare settings I've worked in we've always helped children fall asleep, using lullaby music, patting their bum, stroking face etc x

Can also try rocking to sleep wrapped up cosy in a blanket then placed into cot after 10-15 mins. We still mostly do falling asleep in sleeping bag on my knees then carried upstairs asleep and put in bed 😅

she’s try’s everything to get him to have a sleep and he just fights it all the time, I think I’ll try put him in his cot once his asleep and see if he can at least sleep in his cot instead off on me

That’s a good idea hadn’t thought of that I’ve tried taking his blanket that he sleeps with but that hasn’t worked
