Try a warm compression. Mine was like that too and I’m honestly not sure what it was but a warm compression and better latching helped. It was like this for a week or so for me

Sounds like a clogged duct to me! I had two clogged ducts and both were underneath, it was soo painful to sleep on my stomach, to hug people, to do anything really. I did warm compresses, fed on that side alot and epsom salt haakaa and within a few days it had resolved. Make sure to intervene quickly so it doesn’t become full on mastitis!

how long do i wait to pump after feeding him on that side?

I had pain as well and warm compresses definitely helped! But also if you’re able to see a lactation specialist try it out. They helped me a lot. It could be a lot of things. Clogged duct, bad latching, or maybe your pump flange size isn’t the right one for you (this is actually very important) if your flange is too big or small it will hurt you. The lactation consultant will help you problem solve around all of it.

Sometimes if I have to use my off-hand old pump after a good session it will feel like painful tugging from the nipple inwards and underneath (but still deep in the boob if that makes sense)
After playing around with pumps the last fees weeks only thing I can attribute the pain to is after pump spasms possibly from an incorrect flange im using (they can be caused by pumping to long or hard as well).
Sometimes my actual nipple can't even soften because it's so uncomfortable.
Flange size is a big factor I'm assuming in my discomfort it might be yours as well.
Also I notice my handsfree bra pump definitely restricts flow more than the typical tubing pump that you hold. That may be (for me) an issue that can be solved by using a looser bra with that one.
Anyways my advice is to keep trying methods.
Try aquafor inside the flange and around your areola for less friction.
Warm cloths or stand in the hot shower and let's the warm run over you.
Gentle massage starting at the top of breast working toward nipple

Oh and pump. If it's a clogged duct or beginning mastitis you wanna get ahead of it and nurse/ pump that sucker out

I’ve recently been experiencing this as well. Warm compress, massaging the area (I have a lactation massager that works wonders) and also nursing/pumping on that side.
