Antenatal Appointment

Well I firstly text my Midwife over the weekend and she didn’t know, then when I called the Clinic today they said it was based on the Risk Assessment (could be a previous C-Section, but I’ve not had a Baby before, could be Fibroids, BMI, etc) been from my Midwife I said well she doesn’t have a clue what this is for either!
They need something to be scanned onto the system to give me proper answers but this hasn’t happened yet so need to call back in a week - but it all doesn’t help my Anxiety!

I also received this and have my appointment next Monday. I called the midwife when I received it and she had no idea either so when I called the hospital they said she should no because it’s based on the notes she submitted about me, which means it’s showing as high risk on their end. She just said they will do an assessment some tests and if everything is fine then they will sign me back off to midwife-led care x

I received a similar letter with no indication of what the appointment was for.
I called the hospital number on the letter and was told that I was supposed to see a consultant for high risk pregnancies. I was surprised to hear this as I wasn't aware that I was high risk, so I said this to the person at the hospital. They then asked if I had issues during labour with my first baby and/or had lost a lot of blood and/or if I have thyroidism - the answer was yes to all of the questions - so apparently this is why I have been classified as high risk and need to attend this appointment.

I'm surprised at how the person/team who drafts these letters doesn't think it necessary to mention what the appointment is for... 🙄

It’s so infuriating to not tell us why, just causing more stress and Anxiety!
I’ve had a Miscarriage in March this year, but even with that the Midwife told me I was Low Risk, so I’m so confused! X

it seems a bit odd that the Midwife doesn’t know and then the Hospital said she should know!
I’m in the same boat, my Midwife doesn’t know and said she isn’t worried but the Hospital have no idea what I have been referred!
I’m just so worried about me and my Baby now!

I find it very strange because if the information my midwife sent shows me as high risk I would expect for her to tell me. I had a missed miscarriage in May this year but I wasn’t told I was high risk. I was told it’s fine as it’s only one so no need for extra scans or appointments. I will see how my appointment goes on Monday and then speak to my midwife on the Tuesday at my 16 week appointment with her. But I think they need to better prepare us for this than send a letter confirming an appointment with no details as to why.

@they definitely need to be better especially as pregnancy is a lot as it is so throwing a random appointment without context doesn’t help. I will definitely let you know how it goes. How far along will you be in December?
