My baby has been prescribed amino acid formula and the dietician advised to use carobel as she also has reflux. We made it as per the instructions on the pack but it went really slimey feeling?? Is that normal?
We’ve decided to wean her onto the formula over the next 7 days so how will I work out the carobel amount? Thank u xx

Hey, my baby girl was prescribed formula and carobelle, we only used one scoop maybe 2 at most and that was on 4-5 oz bottles she's now 4 months old and doesn't have any carobelle! Just judge it as you think it shouldn't be too thick just feel weighty in the bottle when yous Jake it if that makes sense xx

It’s bit of trial and error with carobel to find the right thickness for baby, you may find reflux dies down over time as all the milk leaves system and the irritation of stomach dies down, my boys reflux was purely cmpa and his other allergy related.
I used 1 heaped scoop for 4oz, 1 heaped scoop and a tiny bit for 5oz, then 1 heaped spoon and a half for 6&7oz x

Yeah, it's so slimey 🤢
We only use one scoop for a 6/7oz bottle now so it's not too bad thankfully haha

Be warned that you’ll likely need to go up a teat size! Typically the size above what you’re on now works, but if baby gets frustrated it probably means it’s not coming out as fast as they want.
Are you weaning from another prescription formula or normal milk!
If normal milk, you won’t need carobel until you get to majority amino acid, as the normal milk will be like your thickener. Once you hit more than 50% AA, I’d do half a scoop of carobel for 5oz initially and see. It is trial and error so you may find more or less has the needed impact on your reflux!

You need to try different amounts of carobel to find right consistency. When I've put as advised it was too thick.
