I'm so angry ☹️

Tell me honestly. Is it a big deal? I'm very possibly being a drama queen, though I'm pretty chill about everything in general. Just walked into the kitchen to see my mum cutting my 4 month old boys hair. She's said she wanted to umpteen times when his wee fuzzy hair came out a bit, as it does, and now it's lighter and fluffy. I said no there's no need. He's 4 months and it's perfect the way it is. Shes gone and done it anyway to "thicken it up" . I said you can't just do shit like that cause you want to. It's literally the one time in my life my opinion should stand and that is that. I feel upset man 😭 I know it'll grow and it's fine I just can't stand folk doing shit when they know damn fine I wouldn't want them to.

Fuck!

I would be furious. This is your child. Make the boundaries more known to your mom maybe?

I just said there's a lack of trust. To knowingly do it when I was away making my bed after me saying I wouldn't do it multiple times previously. I'm sick of older folk thinking it's their way or the high way. It's not a generational thing. That's an excuse.. it's an entitled thing . I'm just raging 😐

Avatar

I’m be fuming! Total lack of respect to your feelings. He’s your boy, and she needs to respect your wishes. I wouldn’t be leaving him alone with her again for a while so show her that she broke your trust, and needs to rebuild it 🥰

Avatar

well done for making your feelings known. I know its crazy isn't it. I live with my parents and at the start they were all like no do it this way and I said to them times have changed advice has changed, now they go with my way mostly , Although my mom is still trying to get my baby to take a pacifier even when she clearly doesn't like it 🙈

Avatar

Omg no I would be LIVID my mam would’ve got the biggest mouthful and then shown the door. Its mega disrespectful after you’ve told her multiple times not to

Avatar

Appreciate this guy's. They make me feel like I'm being dramatic and it's no biggie. But it actually felt a bit like a punch in the chest. To be so flippant when it's about his first haircut should be done properly when he has ... Actually hair?!!! And when I take him. Not chopping the ends to thicken it up?! I'm baffled. Upset. Pissed off.

I'll absolutely not be accepting "can I get a cuddle" if I'm not in the room again

it’s sadly really common in mother/daughter relationships when their daughter has a baby. You don’t see it as much when it’s mother/son. It’s a weird “you’re my daughter so he’s technically mine too” thing. Entitlement to act as a parent rather than grandparent. Not with everyone of course but it does happen. It seems like your mum could fit the bill but hopefully your reaction to her cutting your sons hair will get the message through to her. You can be present and involved, but decision making is my authority alone.

Swear if you asked her she’d have stories to tell about when you were a baby with people trying to butt in/get involved and being told where to go. They seem to forget what it’s like.

I would lose my mind if someone cut my little girls hair without my permission, never mind if my mum did it! you are not being dramatic and it is a biggie as she has done this knowing you don't agree. I hope you're ok 🩷

Avatar

Hey holly, it’s ok, don’t worry, I understand how it can feel, but thankfully nothing too bad has happened. Babies hair will grow back. Looking at the good side, you know now not to leave baby with your mum now, as she goes beyond not even asking you. People are mad these days, I had so much argument with my mum in the beginning, she was making me go mad, they don’t have bad intentions actually. Just stay carm.

Avatar

Very true. In the grand scheme of things his hair will grow back and he's oblivious obviously. Just gets my kind going to what else is out of my hands when they have a cuddle with him . Next they'll take him to get his ear pierced or something daft 🤦

Avatar

I would be livid!! Total lack of disrespect 😔

Avatar

Your mum is a narcissist.
She knew she would get a reaction out of you by doing this. It’s unacceptable behaviour from her.
It’s not even really about the hair, it’s about you telling her “no” and she didn’t like it. I’m sorry you have to deal with this!

Avatar

Oh and spinning it round to make you feel like you’re the ‘crazy’ one who is ‘overreacting’ is just classic. My mum is the same way.

Avatar

I would be so angry and upset! It’s your decision only. No one else’s. Sorry this has happened to you!

Avatar

I'd be FUMING! ❤️

Avatar

This is wrong is so many ways I would be more than fuming!

Avatar

there is a definite arrogance and know-it-all mentality . Lack of respect. I'll be less trusting from now on regardless of whether she's taken heed or not

Avatar

You are absolutely not being a drama queen! If someone did that to my baby then they absolutely would never be left alone with her again!

Avatar

Thanks everyone. I feel less over the top in getting myself worked up earlier. Still seething when I think about it but glad to know it's not just "hormones" as everyone likes to blame it on these days. You have a baby and all of a sudden you can't control your emotions and hormones as if we haven't had hormones through us since feckin puberty 🙄😂

Avatar

I would be so angry this is not ok

Avatar

You're absolutely right!

Avatar

I would be furious, it's your baby and even though I am sure she did it with the best interest in heart, she should've checked with you.

Avatar

I’d make it known I didn’t want them round the baby alone again tbh I’d be livid and wouldn’t be seeing her for a while

Avatar

I’d be livid, babies first haircuts is a big thing especially with your first baby, so to completely disregard your feelings is unfair! You are not being dramatic in the slightest!

Avatar

I would absolutely loose my shit 😂😂

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

4 month sleep regression

Does anyone else feel like they’re back in the newborn trenches through the 4 month sleep regression ?? 😭😭 my boy turned 4 months yesterday and the past 3 nights he’s woken up every 20-40 minutes. He does manage to get back off to sleep after I give him his dummy. It’s so strange though because his daytime naps don’t seem to be affected? He has 2 x long naps a day (around 2 hours) and a couple 30-40 minutes here and there and seems fine during them, it’s just his night time sleep! I read it can last for 6 weeks, I pray it doesn’t because I am shattered 🤣🤣

Is this a normal poo?

Apologies for picture included. 1 year old has had a funny tummy since Friday not watery diarrhoea but very explosive and paste like poo and he’s not being eating as much but been drinking his milk and water normally! Today we had this poo though and it seemed a very chalk like consistency and very pale. Just asking for thoughts and advice really. He did also have lots of cream on his bum.
